What to do with the Bouquets?

Zaz, on April 15, 2016 at 10:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

This is a random 2:00 in the morning (and I'm awake) type of question:

What do we do with the bouquets during the reception? Our ceremony and reception are at the same venue, and I'd like to BM to walk in carrying them, but what do we do with them then? I don't want them to clutter up the tables (I'd hate to eat around my fresh flowers lol), but I also don't want them to go on the gift/guest book table. I plan to ask my florist what they recommend, but does anyone have any ideas? What did you do/plan to do/have seen done?

Some use them for the cake table as decoration.

We had mason jars set where they would be sitting at the reception so they could put their bouquets in them while they ate. It was actually part of decor on the head table, every other seat was a bridesmaid bouquet in a mason jar.

Have some extra vases that you can sit them in. Though, if you don't want them on the guest book/gift/cake table I don't know where to tell you to put them. I only have 2 attendants and that's what I plan to do with mine.

I think most people have a extra vases handy for BMs to set them in so that they can also function as extra decor. We had a sweetheart table so I laid mine down on my table, then our family who took home the presents for us also took home my bouquet and put it in water. Before we left for the honeymoon I hung it upside to dry it.

Is there anywhere at the reception that would look nice with them? Cake table? Bar?

Cake table. if you have any other special tables (head table, sweet heart table, etc) you can put them there.

Re-use them as decor!! I've seen them used as centerpieces for dining or cocktail tables, for the sweetheart table, cake table, etc

Yeah the vase idea sounds great, since you can put them anywhere.

I like the idea of putting them in vases for the cake/gift table; my biggest reservation on that was the thought of someone bumping into them and sending water splashing around. (I'm a bit of a klutz sometimes, so I just assume that will happen)

We're doing a sweetheart table, and the centerpiece for that is included in my floral package. I may ask the florist if we can scale it down a bit and utilize my bouquet in that manner.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! :-)

At my wedding we placed my bouquet and the BM bouquets along the head table as the centerpieces there. The same was at my friend's wedding as well. Don't get centerpieces or décor for the head table and then use the bouquets for that. That's best in my opinion.

We aren't doing a head table, but most of the bridesmaids will be sitting together at another table or two...not sure what to do with their bouquets. One can go by the cake.

We are probably going to put one at the cake table and then the other two near the entrance.... Still need vases though!

Our florist supplies vases for the bouquets and they go on the head table for decorations, so I don't have to spend more money for centerpieces for the head table.

We have a long rectangular table for the bridal party. We will have vases in a row down the table and will put ours in them as decor when we go in to the reception area.

Same for us- we are going to use them as the centerpieces on our head table. Will have empty vases with water on the table for when we enter.
