What to do with rings on cruise honeymoon?

FutureMrsWalton, on March 10, 2015 at 10:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon and we will be doing some "adventures" in the Bahamas (snorkeling, swimming with sea lions, etc). My ring spins when my hands are wet. Right now I am thinking that I should leave them in the room safe when we do them so they won't get lost. I hate the idea of taking off my e-ring and also my wedding ring though! Anyone have any advice?

I take my ring off as soon as I get home. I am probably going to get a backup ring specifically used when I travel. Putting it up in the safe should be fine.

I agree, room safe should be fine.

And if not... well, that's why you had it insured the minute you bought it, right?

Typically on a cruise ship, the safe is locked with a magnetic card of your choice and only that card will open it up. Its safe. Safer than a resort safe, in my opinion. We use an empty gift card not an actual credit card.

Thank you ladies! I don't take off my ring now so I will hate having to for part of the honeymoon but it sounds like the safe will be safe Smiley smile I've never been on a cruise so that part is making me nervous.

Yes @sandpiper, it was insured the day FH bought it!

We went on a 7 day cruise for our HM and I only took my ring off to sleep. It survived just fine even when we went ziplining and parasailing. Luke other ladies have said, if you're really uncomfortable the room safe is very secure and you can always get a cheap "travel" set that you don't mind losing or ruining

I have a travel set for our honeymoon but we've vacationed while engaged and I've left the ring in the room safe

Room safe should be fine. When H and I were on our honeymoon (also a cruise with snorkeling, ziplining and general adventure seeking) I didn't take mine off. Mine doesn't spin though.

We're not even taking our rings on our HM. They will be safely in the possession of my mom. I'll buy a fake to wear.

The safe in the rooms on cruises are fine. Make sure to take some sort of card with you. A lot of them are numbers and the other lots of them are opened by a card. I always use some sort of shoppers club (make sure it has the magnetic strip on it) or a gift card. That way I can hide it in the room verse having to carry it on me all the time, however if for some reason it got lost it's not like it's a credit card. I agree just buy a fake ring (20$ on amazon) and wear that. You want to have something! Better yet, but one of those jewelscent candles. FH just bought me one. You burn it down like a candle, but there is some type of ring in there ranging in value. It was fun waiting for it to burn down. The lowest value is $15 and of course the ring in mine was that amount. But it goes up to $7,500!

My sister didn't even bring her engagement ring on her HM. She did bring her wedding band and I think locked it in the room when she was worried about losing it.

Most people buy fake or cheap rings to bring with them on their honeymoons and leave the good ones at home. You can also use the room safe on the ship.

We were on a cruise when we got engaged and the day we went on an excursion (the day after I got the ring) I locked mine up in the room safe...even though I didn't want to Smiley sad

I wear mine everywhere, even into the ocean. Plan on wearing it on our honeymoon as well. The only time I take it off is during the shower...although I will leave it in our room suite during some excursions.

IMO, buying a fake set is just silly and a ridiculous waste of money
