Feeling very discouraged about everything that’s going on right now. We decided to change our date from July to another one but we can’t seem to come up with a date that doesn’t interfere with things already on the calendar. No more negativity please just wanted to really put this out there because I’m just at lost for what the further holds right now and at a breaking point.

We are in New Hampshire. We ended up postponing our wedding and reception by a full year (moved from May 30, 2020 to June 12, 2021) and were debating doing something small around our original date, but I was worried it would take away from the excitement of our wedding day and celebration. I was on the fence and going back and forth about whether I wanted to get married now or wait, then on Wednesday my mom was diagnosed with cancer, so on the fly we decided to go ahead with a super small ceremony with just our parents and a couple close friends on our original date. Our venue has been amazing - they said we can come use the outdoor spaces on the property on our own, use the ceremony site, decorate the arbor, etc - to do our mini ceremony and are not charging us anything for it and our photographer is on board. I still have a lot of details to figure out in a very short period of time and trying to get any last minute supplies right now is near impossible thanks to Amazon taking a week to ship everything and such and stores being shut down, but it's going to come together one way or another and by the end of the month I'll be married to the person I'm excited to spend the rest of my life with and we don't have to give up a full year of marriage because of a pandemic.

The situation I think has forced me to really accept that our original plans went out the window, there are things we have no control over, and we just need to do the best with what we have. My mom is so excited about the wedding, and I honestly feel better just having clarity that this is what we are doing now and it's the right thing to do.

That's a very tough position to be put in, during an already tough time. I'm sorry you're going through that - you're not alone.

Wow - that's a lot to unpack and handle. I'm glad that you appear to be finding the silver lining. I hope you are able to have the day you're hoping for, and that your mom is well taken care of.

I definitely feel better know people like me aren’t alone and are trying the best they can. This chat has been very comforting in that.

This is wonderful to hear! We don't know the future, but this will keep you strong til then. And you will be married, the point of all this! I hope your mom has, a treatable cancer, and is here for your tenth anniversary? ( Another NH girl here)
