What to do next

I’m still 15 months out from the wedding but I haven’t touched or thought of anything wedding in a few months and I’m starting to wonder if there’s stuff I should be doing right now. So far we have:
•booked/paid for our venue in full
•the catering is also there but we have not done a taste testing yet.
•booked the dj
•booked the photographer and paid half
•booked the wedding planner and paid in full (half? I don’t remember at the moment)
•booked the church but not the minister
•spoken with our dessert go to gal but haven’t really hammered down any actual items
•bought my dress and paid in full
•bought the bridesmaids gifts because it was fun and I couldn’t wait (the don’t have them yet).

What’s next and is there something I should be doing at the 12 month make? I was SO excited for a few months and planned like crazy but now work has been crazy for the both of us and it’s summer vacation for the kids so planning hasn’t been on my mind. Except for wanting to scrap it all and elope. 😂🤣

I think you are way on top of things so good for you! You still have time so take a deep breath and relax. Maybe look at hair and makeup artists next if you decide to do that, work on guest lists!if you haven’t already. Think about little things you can pick up here and there for any diy projects or start making your song list. There is sooooo much stuff that sometimes I forget things completely until it hits me all of a sudden

I feel like we are in the same boat! You may want to look around for a florist (if you are doing really flowers) and a hair & makeup artist. These
    services fill up fast!

I love WW for this forum bc no one wants to hear me talk about my wedding IRL, but the checklist isn't as in depth as the one on The Knot. I dunno about other apps. I like an in depth one because the more tasks it gives me, the less likely I am to forget to add something, which I think is your concern. I removed the irrelevant stuff and as I went down the list of whether to keep or toss a task, it got me thinking of other tasks that may need to get done. If it wasn't on the list I could add it. Most checklists work the same, I just like to be a little more granular.

I would go ahead and work on finding a minister. I don’t know where you live but you may want to contact HMUAs and ask when they begin booking and what their rates are, and whether or not trials are included. I just booked the MUA for my wedding and she said she was surprised she still had that date, but Atlanta is a very big city with lots of people getting married.

Also you didn’t mention florals so if you are hiring a florist you probably want to book sometime soon. And already have an idea of the color or type and style of flowers you’d like. Whenever is convenient I’d say go in for a tasting with the caterer and pick some desserts with that vendor.

I am in the same boat! I'm Oct 2020 and I have pretty much all the same things booked. I need to sign my DJ contract but he's my godfather so I'm not worried.

My goal is to have everything 100% booked by the end of 2019 so I can spend 2020 buying smaller decor and having lots of parties in relation to the wedding.

I have a hmu artist but I haven't paid the deposit. I still have no clue what I want to do with my hair and I am constantly seeing makeup that I like but I feel like idk what it will really look like on me. So I want to have 100 trials hahaha

My project I'm working on now is the florist. I have a list of people/things that need flowers so now I'm going to research what flowers are in season in Oct and get some ideas to take to the florist.

I have my dress and veil. FH stepdad bought me a necklace to wear but I haven't seen it yet. I am starting to look at shoes because 2 of my bridesmaids are like 5'10", 2 other ones are like 5'6", and then 1 is the same height as me (we are like 5' on the dot). FH is 6'1" so I'm not sure if I want to wear small heels or flats. I need to decide if I'm wearing heels before I get my dress altered.

I also need to figure out what the heck the bridesmaids are wearing and what the heck the groom/groomsmen are wearing.

This makes me feel 100% better. I’m also October 2020. I keep changing my mind on shoes. I bought heels and then wore them to break them in a bit and they killed my feet. Switched to flats but now I think I might need a little heel. As far as bridesmaids and groomsmen attire? Just shoot me. Between a picky moh and my switching colors back and forth I’m lost. I’m hoping my planner will help me with that one though.

GIRL I was literally to most indecisive person on the planet until I FINALLY picked colors and just stuck with them.

I never wear heels so I'm nervous but I do have a chunky pair that I really like so I'm thinking if I buy the same type of heel thats about 1.5" or 2" it won't be bad. I just don't want the pictures to look dumb because I'm the shortest person on the planet apparently haha

Have you made a day-of timeline yet? A lot of my vendors are asking for one already so I made a tentative one.

My wedding planner is supposed to make that for me. I’m (impatiently) waiting for that. She makes a big list of to dos but I think that happens around a year before. She’s already asked for colors and is doing her thing around the colors I picked and now I think I’ve changed them again. 😂🤣 I don’t know how I’m supposed to know colors until I see the bridesmaids in dresses but apparently that’s one of the first things. I’m dreading picking out invitations. Work has me so exhausted lately I just want someone to do it all for me. 😂 We have nailed down a guest list. My dj said we probably won’t hear from him again until at least next year.

It’s coming along slowly. We are meeting with our planner this weekend to view the church and tighten the budget. Our budget just keeps getting bigger and bigger. 😬 We’re going to tighten that up and bit and get an idea on a real number. I’m calling HMUA this week and am trying to touch base with the pastor of the church we’re getting married in to see wha the rules are on who can and cannot marry us there. My maid of honor has been SO busy as of late we’ve not really nailed down a dress color she’s happy with, or style. Once we do that I can start looking for some artificial flowers for them, me and the groomsmen. I think we’ve decided that we won’t do real flowers due to it being allergy season at the time of the wedding and my son has awful allergies. Flower combatted with everyone’s different perfumes would make him miserable all evening.

That's really smart thinking! I don't suffer from allergies so I would never think to check with my wedding party or anyone I would be close to if they have allergies.

I hope your meeting with the planner helps tighten the budget in for y'all. Are you using any form of budgeting tool at the moment to help you control it? If not, the WeddingWire budgeting tool may help you out.

We are using a few. This budget planner and then my own excel spreadsheet. My planner will send updates once I get that over to her. We feel much better. She’s checking in about a few things to save us some money and she gave us a discount for her services. She gifted the bouquets/boutonnières so that was an amazing surprise!! We nailed down our wedding colors and are going full speed ahead.

My bridesmaids will wear black, the flower girls will wear a blush/rose gold and the groomsman will wear black suits. We will have a lot of greenery, lighting/candles and a mixture of black, gold and blush/rose gold. The black and greenery will stand out the most but lots of details will have the splash of the blush and gold. My dad will chauffeur us in his white gatsby. I’m excited it’s all coming together now! This is a picture of the church.
