What to do during an anniversary reception

on February 24, 2022 at 8:45 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 2
Hi everyone!

Due to COVID restrictions, my husband and I had a private ceremony at my parents’ house last year. Immediate family was there, but none of our friends could attend. So this year, we are hosting a one year anniversary dinner/reception party for our friends.

We have the venue from 4pm-9pm. There will be a buffet, photo booth, DJ and dance floor, basically what a wedding reception usually has. So my question is, what can we do to fill the time and keep our guests entertained? Would 4pm-5pm be too long for guests to come in and mingle and chat? If we start eating at 5pm, would an hour of dinner be too long? And do people really dance for 3 hours? Most of our friends are in their 40s and 50s, and they will be bringing their teen/preteen children.
We are keeping things casual, so there will be no first dance or cake cutting. I just want to make sure that our guests will be comfortable and entertained.
So any suggestions will be much appreciated!
Thank you!

I don't think you need to plan anything else!! A DJ, dance floor, and photobooth are more than enough to keep your guests entertained!!

I'd keep the cocktail hour for mingling (3-5), and you'll definitely still need at least an hour for dinner! Then everyone will be happy to dance or chat & mingle. 🎉
