What to do day of trial?

Kellie, on April 4, 2018 at 5:22 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
Hey there! I have my hair and make up trial this Saturday. Those we have gone before, did you wash your hair/have it styled like you typically do or what? For instance, I have very thick, long wavy/curly hair but I usually straighten it, but for the wedding I’m having an updo—so should I just wear my hair natural? Also did you show up with a bare face or wearing makeup you typically wear so the artist can see your style? Thanks!!

I haven’t done my trial yet but these sound like questions you should definitely ask your hair and makeup person because I’m sure every artist has a preference!

I was told not to straighten my hair. I shampooed it. No conditioner or heat after. If it’s too silky from conditioner it’s more difficult to style. I was told no makeup only moisturizer

For the makeup trial, have a bare face, and maybe some inspiration photos and a photo of your dress.

For the hair trial, I have curly hair, so I washed and conditioned as normal that morning.

Some people go out on dates, or have their e-pics done. I had to go to work after my trials. 😂

Bare face. Wash hair and let air dry naturally.

Unless your hair gets oily very quickly, wash your hair the morning of the day before your trial and come with a clean face and slightly dirty hair, it's easier to style!

So my situation was a bit odd, my stylist actually cut and colored my hair right before the trial (I was in need of some serious TLC!!). With that, my hair was freshly cleaned and she was still able to do the style I had been wanting.

With the makeup I would show up bare faced. If they want to see your normal "look" you could always show them a picture of you when you love your style! I had fun going in and telling her what I typically do and how I wanted it amplified for the wedding.

My hair dresser told me how she wanted me to do my hair. I would ask the person who is doing it

My hair stylist requested one-day dirty hair. I showed up with 2 or 3 day dirty hair and she dry shampooed it (which helped with thr style) and was happy that I hadn't washed it.

For makeup I would think to come bare faced and bring inspiration photos. Although I haven't had my makeup trial yet so not sure if that's the best advice.

More hair stylist will tell you to have clean dry hair with no product ... I washed and conditioned my hair the night before

Agree with asking. For the trial, Daughter's HMUA wanted freshly washed and dry hair, but she wanted her to come with her "normal" make-up, so HMUA could see her usual "look." She then gave her make-up remover wipes to take it off. Day-of, she'll be "bare-faced," but moisturized; clean, dry hair.

Most hair stylist prices include the wash but just double check with your stylist he or she should be able to tell you how to come to the appointment.

A lot of stylist rather wash your hair to ensure that there are no products in it that way they can style it.

I came on here to ask questions about trials, and this definitely helped with some of my questions. So thank you!
