What to do about Gravel in the Reception area?

Becca, on July 21, 2017 at 3:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi there! So I'm getting married on September 29th, and my venue has a lot of gravel. It's an outdoor wedding, the Ceremony will be held on grass while the Reception will be held on gravel. There is concrete floor under the Pavilion, but thats been designated as the bar/dance floor area. I guess my question is - If I rent tent flooring, could I just lay that over the gravel to put the round tables/chairs on, or will that not work? If we go without the flooring, what would be a better fix for the situation? Its a GORGEOUS venue and we love it so much - just the gravel so far is the biggest issue. I have attached a picture of our venue and where the flooring would go. Thanks all!

Hmm, did the venue have any suggestions? I am assuming they've held weddings there before so I would be curious if others had done anything about the gravel. Otherwise, tent flooring sounds like it would be the best solution.

I really don't think flooring over the gravel would work, but have you asked the venue if they have any options? The only thing I can think of would be to put the tables and chairs under the pavilion and then move them after dinner.

I think it could be fine as is, just let your guests know. You wouldn't want anyone to ruin nice heels on rocks (or in the mud), but flats would be fine.

I would think the fake flooring would be uneven and move over the rocks. What do other couples do at your venue?

My FDL got married in October and her venue was similar to yours, she just put the tables on the gravel area, It was not a huge deal except that fact that walking in heals was a bit of a pain and my shoes got so dirty. I wish I had solutions for your guests, but for you I would check out solemates they are a heel protector for your heels for grass and gravel kinda cool.

I think you either deal with the gravel or set up tables in some nearby grass. Either way you need to inform your guests so they can wear appropriate footwear but I do not think flooring will work over top of gravel

    Grass is better than gravel.
