what title for someone

Angel, on March 18, 2015 at 4:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I want to ask a relative to kind of coordinate the wedding, make sure people are where they need to be when they need to be there. Make sure wedding party is spaced out and walking during the correct songs etc. What is this person called, what title?

    Worker bee?

ETA: "I should have hired a planner but instead you get to do my bidding and not enjoy my wedding" has a nice ring to it... This isn't something you want to ask someone you like to do, you hire someone to do it. Your family and friends want to watch you get married, not coordinate it

Wedding director, or day of coordinator. DoC sorta implies they're overseeing everything, ceremony and reception. A wedding director is more just for the ceremony.

People do actually want to do this kind of thing---no matter how much people tell you it's rude. My sister has a very close friend who turned down being a bridesmaid but requested to be my sister's DOC. She WANT to help with the wedding and do all of these things for her. She asked. She volunteered. Everyone's situation is different. Whoever you ask can say no if they don't want to. Different things work for different people and you know your family best.

I witnessed someone's aunt be the DOC. It was awful. Be sure this person has the right qualities.... If they don't, you'll end up worrying x10 more than you should be on your day.

I don't think I would ever ask someone to do this for me, especially someone close to me. It doesn't sound like a position of honor. It sounds like a pain.

5000 in budget coordinator not happening, also trying to find to find a responsible job for this person so he does not feel left out. We cannot use any more groomsmen.

This is why most people have a rehearsal.

Well, as long as you know you aren't doing this person and honors by asking them to do this. Alternatively if they ask if they can do anything at the wedding, totally legit, but saying "hey, we're good on groomsmen, but if you could press play on the cd player and tell everyone when to walk in, rather than sit and actually enjoy watching us get married" is not doing the any favors.

We will be at a lake resort for several days prior to the wedding for a reunion type get together camping games fishing and fun . And I have people lined out for all kinds of(jobs). We will be getting married on the dock there. Low key, not incredibly formal. And everyone want to do something but I am running out of ideas.

It just kind of seems/feels like a 2nd place job.
