My ceremony starts at 3:30, I'll be arriving at the venue at 1pm, waking up for hair and makeup at 8am.

Like @MrsH said, depends on what time your ceremony is and you can back out from there

I think it all depends if they are all doing their hair/makeup on their own or together. And what all you need to do yourself.

I'm so glad you asked this; I've been trying to figure it out for myself. It's a bit more involved than a normal day Smiley winking If you have appointments you'll want to factor in those, plus the transportation to/from. I'm DIY-ing my hair and makeup, so I plan to do a few practice sessions so I can be sure I know what sort of time to set aside for those things. My wedding's at 4 (out of town about 40 min), and we have the venue starting at 2. We're setting up everything ourselves, so I think I'll plan to be there around 1 or so to start getting ready (and staying out of the way until 2). So getting ready for us will be interspersed with actually setting up the venue. If you plan too much time to get ready, you can always relax with your friends/family.

I'm signing in to see this too. Hair and makeup will be done prior to arriving at the church.

My ceremony is at 6 and I plan on meeting the photographer to start pictures about 3:30 at the venue. I will probably start getting ready around 1, hair will take an hour (probably less since it's a friend who knows my hair and can do exactly what I want in close to 30 minutes) and makeup took 30 minutes when we did the trial. Count back from when you need to be at the venue and allow enough time for travel in between if you aren't getting ready on site.

I had to be at the venue by 4PM. I started getting ready at 12PM. I only had to worry about myself though so I didn't need alot of time.

Everything will take longer than you think. My 11;30 AM last week had the bridal party in makeup at 4:30 AM.

    Here was my timeline:

Our ceremony was at 4:00pm, with a first look at 1:30. I got a shower around 7:00am, then hair and makeup was from 8:00am until about 11:45am.

I can't tell you what ti8me to be ready, but I can offer the following tips:

Allow at least 45 minutes prior to ceremony start time to be done with EVERYTHING. In the best case scenario, you can sit and breathe and relax with your wedding party before you head down the aisle. In the worst case, some things will run over and you will have allowed an extra window of time to accommodate.

Hair and makeup always take longer than you think.

It really helps to have a Day of Wedding Coordinator to keep things on schedule.

If you;'re not getting ready in the same location as your ceremony will be in, allow even more time!
