What time is brunch?

Josh's Girl, on September 10, 2012 at 10:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We are seriously considering a brunch reception but what time would you think is okay? My idea was 10am start for the ceremony but fiancé thinks this is too early for people?

My other idea is maybe have a 'high tea' theme reception which I think would be fine aroubd 2 pm - but other than scones and tea sandwichs what kind of menu options are there

Thanks in advance

If you start at 10:00 than the reception will be around lunch time. The only issue would be if people are driving in from a few hours away. Brunch weddings are pretty early and usually a few people will opt not to go who would go to an evening wedding. That's true of most daytime weddings though. It is what it is.

I love tea. Here's some tea links. Second one might give you more ideas. There's lots of stuff you can do. Soups, quiches, madeleines, macaron.

Like Pan said, the only issue with a 10:00 ceremony would be if people have to come in from out of town. Also, keep in mind that you'll probably need to get ready quite early to be ready for a 10:00 wedding. My bridal party and I will start hair and makeup at 8:00 am...and our ceremony isn't until 3:00. Granted, our getting ready time is extended b/c we need to drive 45 minutes from hotel to ceremony, but you the idea ; )

High tea is also a cute idea. All of Pan's suggestions are good. You could also serve a variety of salads (green salads, pasta salads, fruit salad, etc). It's not party of the traditional high tea menu, but I'm sure no one would mind..

I wouldn't have an issue as a guest, but you may have an issue as a bride. Are you getting your hair and makeup professionally done? If so, that take a couple of hours, plus getting into the dress, getting to the venue, etc. You would probably have to start your day around 4 am.

I'm having an 11:00 am ceremony - cocktail (mimosa) hour from 11:30 to 12:30 then my brunch reception from 12:30 to 4:30.

It'll be an early morning for everyone! I, along with my MOH's (my 19 yo daughters) have to be at the venue at 7:00 am with my MUA & Hair person.

I have never been to a brunch reception before so mine will be the "first". I'm hopeful it'll work out well.

Yay brunch receptions! I'm having the ceremony at 10:30, "coffee" hour at 11, and hoping to start the reception by 11:45ish. I'm getting my hair blow dried straight(ish) the night before and my mom or aunt will style it in the morning. My hair is ridic. And since we'll be done early in the afternoon, we'll still have daylight to take more pictures afterwards. But we are going to do what pics we can before hand.
