What questions should i ask a Dj?

We didn't go into our DJ meeting with very many questions other than making sure he could accommodate an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, and possibly a live jazz group during cocktail hour. He kind of walked us through what he typically provides as far as equipment and services, and then asked us a lot of questions about what we were thinking as far as specifics. We didn't have answers to all his questions, but it definitely made us feel better that he had a good handle on exactly what he needed to do. If you're concerned about the quality of the DJ, you could ask them if they have video of previous events, or if they're DJing anywhere soon where you could stop by to watch.

We were blown away when we met with our DJ, he was so prepared and told us anything we could've possibly needed to know and things we didn't even think of! If the DJ you meet with doesn't at least have some sort of rundown to give you to cover the basics and just waits for you to ask stuff, that would be a red flag for me. But a lot of people do want to know if they take requests, if they will also act as an MC (not all will), and if they have the ability to get specific songs you might want or if they only have a set playlist.

Id ask about what the rates are if you go overtime, ask for any song suggestions, ask to see playlists they usually play, if they can make announcements for you, what their package comes with, cancellation policy, etc.
