What Material Is Your Ring Made Of? 💍

I never get sick of seeing/hearing about people’s rings! I just love how unique they are these days! I feel like rings were a bit more standard in the past, but modern brides are choosing ones that really reflect them and their personal style
I knew I wanted a round diamond engagement ring, but I wanted something that was both modern and also a nod to the 1920s, so FH and I decided to custom design my ring. We decided on a 1.5 carat round diamond with a bezel halo, and a plain white gold band, so as not to detract from the beautiful simplicity of the stones.
Engagement ring was easy, but the wedding band has been a lot more difficult to decide on! In the end, I got three different bands (One for each wedding date we had to postpone because of Covid). For our first date that was postponed, I designed a diamond celestial enhancer. For the second date that was postponed, I got a wedding band alternative (A ring that I can wear alone when I don’t feel like wearing the engagement ring- although I am so in love with it now, I think it will become a right hand ring lol). It is a vintage yellow gold and midnight blue sapphire band from the 1800s. For our current wedding date, I Ihired a company that sources vintage diamonds. They found me 5 rose cut diamonds from the 1920s, and I designed a floating setting for them. It’s been an insanely long and expensive process! But I am glad we did it, because now I know I have quality pieces of jewelry that are exactly what I want; which was super important to me since I am going to be wearing them daily.

I LOVE that you incorporated the 1920s into your rings!! My husband and I did a second engagement photo shoot right before our wedding, and it was a 1920s theme with a modern twist, so our attire and my hair/makeup all fit the theme. We had a lot of fun with it. Such unique styles from that era!

The celestial enhancer reminds me of a city skyline, very pretty! It looks beautiful paired with your engagement ring. The second band would be a great option for a right hand ring. Do you plan to wear the enhancer, engagement ring, and wedding band all at the same time?

My engagement ring actually belonged to my fiance's mother. We found out that it is an early 1930s era and I was able to find the same era wedding band at a PAWN SHOP!! They are gorgeous and as soon as i pick them up today I will post pictures!!

Chicago has the best skyline (though I may be a little biased - I grew up in the Chicago area and I don't think any other city compares to the beauty of that skyline).

My fiancé chose my engagement ring and it has all the elements of photos I had showed him, so I love it - and it’s a rose cut diamond which is even more unique. We then had the bands made by a local jeweler. They are all white gold with diamonds, but the rose cut main stone is not something you see a lot and then the bands contrast nicely with the more pointy setting. I love the stack altogether and can’t wait to wear it in January!

My engagement ring is white gold! It has a diamond as the center stone, and the band has a bunch of mini diamonds along the sides. The wedding band has a similar design to my engagement ring, just without the larger diamond. My husband and I went to pick out my engagement ring together after he proposed. The ring he gave me at the proposal was one he picked out with my birth stone on it, which has now become a right hand ring for me.

Love all the pics! Mine is white gold and diamonds. We went to the jewelry store together to look. I picked out about 5 different settings and he selected the one he liked best. That way I knew I would love it and he would have input as well. The designer makes a matching band and some stackable bands - we haven’t looked in store yet but I’ve browsed her website.

So, mine is being made right now. My accountant/tax attorney fiance has a super secret sappy side. He suggested we create a lab-grown "DNA diamond" that incorporates our hair and the hair of our kids (we each have two) to represent the blending of our families.

It will be an oval diamond set in a white gold halo setting.

Coming in to represent the broke couples!

We aren't huge earners and we've recently had a lot of expenses with buying our first house etc. It seemed silly for me to be walking around with loads of money on my hand when we have to budget so carefully in our day to day lives! I would rather we used the money to live a little or put it into our home. Especially with the cost of living skyrocketing at the moment. I was also nervous about having something expensive in case I lost it somehow.

My husband could have got me a small diamond engagement ring but I was always set on not wanting a diamond. I chose a london blue topaz and he chose the rest. The little stones are just cubic zirconia and I believe the ring is sterling silver.

We got my wedding ring specially made to go around my e-ring, but it wasn't that expensive as it is also sterling silver and cubic zirconias. My husband chose the engraving

I believe my set ended up being only around 1/4 of our individual monthly salaries lol
