What made you decide on your honeymoon destination?

Kelsie, on May 28, 2019 at 4:16 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21

Where are you going and what was the top thing that led you to choosing your honeymoon destination?

FH and I are having such a hard time deciding, as there are pros and cons for everything. Obviously I know we will ultimately choose a place that has things we want to do, but I'm just wondering if there were any other deal breakers besides that obvious that helped make your final decision!

We are trying to plan a honeymoon to Yellowstone. We want something outdoorsy, mountains, beautiful scenery, and full of outdoor activities.

We went to Portugal, it was on my bucket list since my family are from there. We loved it and will definitely go back!

Are there any locations you're choosing between? Or are you up for anything?

We're going to the Bahamas! After an exhausting year of wedding planning, all we wanted was to lay on the beach and be brought cocktails and say "charge it to the room" hahaha. We chose the Bahamas because (1) it has a Hyatt resort, and my FH is a platinum member of Hyatt so we get tons of perks, and (2) there's no Zika virus (we're not sure when we want to start trying for kiddos but definitely don't want to have to put it off because of that!)

We're going to Iceland in March 2020. We decided on that location because we both want to see the Northern Lights and peak viewing season in during the winter/early spring months.

We're going to Punta Cana. We knew we wanted an adults only all inclusive tropical resort. We decided on Punta Cana because that is where we went for our 1st vacation.

We chose Hawaii. I had been when I was younger, my fiance never had. We wanted a great mix of adventure & relaxing.

We're also going to Punta Cana! It allows for adventure and excursions but also gave us a luxurious adults-only option that was reasonably priced in comparison to some of the other destinations we looked at. We have heard RAVE reviews from everyone who has gone there so that definitely helped solidify things! Enjoy your trip Hannah!

We decided for an all-inclusive, adults only resort. We wanted somewhere where we could relax, in peace and quiet and not have to worry about anything. Think Sandals or the like.

We're going to Orlando for 8 days and 7 nights!

We've both gone on a ton of Caribbean vacations so it just didn't seem to be special for either of us.

We love amusement parks and want to continue having fun after our wedding so we decided on Orlando. We get to go to the parks, drive to the beaches, and take in all of the local sites.

We've gone round and round, haha. I was leaning towards something like Orland/Disney because we wouldn't need to really worry about transportation and there's tons to do but we just went this year. There's lots to do where we are considering (Hawaii, Poconos, Florida), I'm just really concerned about getting around places we've never been. We don't really have the time to dedicate two whole days to driving somewhere if we stay in the U.S. but also don't want to end up spending money on a rental car.

I was looking at Hawaii but have no clue where to stay. There are several cool things I have found that we would love to do, but they are all different places and the transportation aspect is what is stressing me out, haha.

I understand! Deciding between islands was hard. We are doing 3 days in Maui, 4 in Oahu. We wanted to see the Pearl Harbor Memorial, Kualoa Ranch (Jurassic Park Ranch), Waikiki, etc. There are a ton of hotels but your budget helps narrow it down. It was a lot of planning for sure, but worth it!

I feel you! That's partially why we want to go back one day. We did a few little day trips on our honeymoon, and lots of hikes to explore the area around our hotel, but mostly we wanted to relax and not worry about plans and times and navigating so we mostly hung around our hotel, beach, and the town. We want to go back when we can be more adventurous - kind of the difference between a vacation and a trip, you know? We desperately needed a relaxing vacation at the time, but we will be back to explore in the future

It wasn't on the top of my list originally. I was in between Barbados and St. Lucia.
My fiance convinced me and I was totally on board once we discussed it more.

For my FH and I we knew we wanted to go somewhere tropical because we live in NY and wanted to get away from the NY weather. We also knew we wanted to do something that we knew we wouldn't do again for a long time. So I thought of a cruise because I've done cruises before when I was younger but FH has never done one! He was a bit hesitant but I talked him inot it and we now we are going on a cruise to the Bahamas!

We chose Tokyo! Since my fiancé is European, he thought that going anywhere in Europe would not be very exciting since most countries are so close to us already (we live in Sweden) and I agree. It takes maybe an hour or two to fly to Paris, Greece, Rome, etc.

It was a fairly easy decision since we both have never been to Tokyo, it's far enough away to really feel like an adventure, and most importantly we're not beach/resort people.

I actually just let him decide since I am not picky and I love to travel. But my main thing was I wanted it to be a new place neither have us have been to so that it would be a brand new adventure for the both of us.
We are going to Tokyo and Hong Kong.

We are planning on going on a cruise through the Norwegian fjords. It's a cruise that we have been interested in for the last few years. We figured what better time than our honeymoon! But that cruise is only offered in the spring/summer. Since our wedding is in October 2020, we will also be doing a mini moon in the states (destination TBD)
