What kinds of beers and wines?

FutureMrsD, on June 30, 2016 at 2:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

We have purposely booked a venue where we can bring in our own booze. Costco here we come! We plan to do beer, wine and a signature cocktail. Suggestions for how many different varieties/ what kinds of beer and wine we should have? We have a calculator for actual quantities, just wondering about the range of selection that we should offer our guests Smiley smile

We had two different kinds of beer and 4 different kinds of wine.

For wine, I'd get one sweet and one dry of red and one sweet and one dry of white.

Beer, I'd get a popular domestic (i.e. Bud Light) and then a better one. We had Shiner and then a keg of homemade brew that our friend does (which is amazing).

An IPA and a lager. A Zinfandel, a merlot, and a Chardonnay.

    We are also using Costco.

We are doing the variety pack of Alaskan beer I think there are 3 different beers we will get 3 cases (I think). I need to figure out the wine still!

Also the Costco brand vodka and gin (I think the label is blue and just says vodka) is what we are using for mixed drinks- it's surprisingly good booze!

For wine I would do at least 1 red, probably Cabernet, a sweet white and dry white (I'm thinking Chardonnay and Pinot)

I think 2-3 beer options. I would recommend:

    1. Light beer (bud light, mich ultra, coors light)

    2. Ale beer (sam adams, yuengling, newcastle)

    3. IPA or Craft Beer (sierra nevada, local, etc)

Wine I would offer 2-3 options.

    1. Chardonnay

    2. Pinot Grigio

    3. Cabernet or Merlot

I always suggest a chardonnay or Riesling and a merlot or cab for wine. Riesling is sweeter and better for summer, chardonnay more buttery and better for winter. And yes...all the Costco liquor is really good brands for really cheap.

ETA: if you end up getting keys get more of the light beers. More people like them and they get drank faster than more hoppy dark beers.

We are providing three types of beer, a dry red wine, a dry white wine, champagne, and two relatively sweet signature cocktails (raspberry margaritas and strawberry lemonade champagne).

First of all I wish we had a Costco near by and second of all I wish we could by beer/alcohol at a store like this not a specialized distributor/state store

Costco is good but I would highly recommend Total Wine if you have one near you. We have a venue that we can bring our own liquor as well and Total wine has worked with our budget and been excellent!

2-3 beer options, and the same with wine options

Fragolino i gelsi wine (with strawberry flavour) - is my favourite one

I'd strongly recommend additing a sweet white wine, like a west coast Riesling (to me, German Riesling is much dryer!) or a moscato, especially for summer.
