What is your “something Borrowed?”

Mary, on March 26, 2018 at 5:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34
I am having the worst time thinking of something borrowed for my wedding. I’ve got a while to come up with something, but I’m just clueless! My something old is lace from my Grandmother’s wedding dress, something new will be new-to-me earrings that my Grandmother left to my mom & she is giving to me, something blue will (probably) be the soles of my shoes (planning on wearing Tieks). What are y’all using, if you are following this tradition?

I'm still struggling with my something old and something borrowed...I may use my moms garter depending if she knows where it is.

My something new is my dress

My something blue is embroidery on my boots

    I do like this tradition.

Something Old & Borrowed: my cousin has my late grandmother's pearl necklace I'm going to wear.
    Something New: My dress
    Something Blue: My shoes

    Other options for something borrowed:

    - Maybe a piece of jewelry from your FS mom/gma?
    - A journal to write your vows in
    - A ring box
    - A hairpin
    - A purse/clutch
    - Borrow some words from a story/poem for your vows

Something Old: My Nana's wedding band (on my right hand)
    Something New: My dress
Something Borrowed: A Coin in my shoe
Something Blue: My Grandma's turquoise ring (also on my right hand)

I also might sew a piece of fabric from my dad's shirt inadvertently heart into the bust lining of my dress.

I wasn't planning to follow tradition. It was suddenly important to my dad a few days before. He insisted on something borrowed, blue, new, old, and a sixpence. My mother in law gave me a sixpence to borrow (ok it was actually just a quarter but I was sure to give it back after) - two birds, one stone, everybody won.

I have my eye on this beautiful diamond and sapphire ring my uncle gave my aunt for a wedding anniversary a few years ago. It could double as my something blue!

I read that something borrowed is supposed to be borrowed from a married couple you admire.
So I’m borrowing my sister in laws engagement ring! She is super nervous so we agreed the hand off will be right before the ceremony and the hand back will be right after lol but she offered it when I asked her if I could “borrow something” for the day. She was honored

    New will be my dress

my engagement ring has sapphires in it and is a family heirloom from my FMILs cousin. I’m not sure weather I want the ring to be my something old or something blue. (I like the blue pedicure idea mentioned above)

and borrowed... I think I’m going to ask to borrow a necklace or bracelet from my mom or FMIL

I’m borrowing my grandma’s wedding rings but I haven’t decided if this will be my something old as well. My grandpa passed away about 18 years ago and she doesn’t wear them anymore. I want to tie him in more to my day and since she’s already promised me the ring in the future, I have no issues asking to use it for the day then returning it until she decides to give it to me.
My new is my dress, and my blue is my engagement ring and wedding band- I have and am getting aquamarine.
