What is your first dance songs and do they have a deep meaning to them?

We danced to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. No special meaning, I just heard it right after we got engaged and just resonated with us both. We actually got a lot of compliments on the lyrics afterwards

How sweet! We are dancing to an acoustic version of Safe and Sound by Capitol Cities. It has a great message, some funny/quirky lyrics, and a upbeat / fun / happy vibe to it. All the things we hope to see / find in our marriage.

Our first dance is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, because we both knew by about the third date that we were "the one" for each other, and it was the first song we danced to. We actually danced to it at home in our jammies in the living room, and after that I said "I want this to be our first dance song" and he agreed.

Running Home to You by Grant Gustin. We love him and The Flash. And it's a gorgeous song.

We are dancing to Luck be a Lady. It was the song playing as my FH proposed.

We danced to Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

Honestly after awhile I was willing to pick any song for the first dance because DH is the pickiest music snob ever so trying to get him to choose something was so frustrating!

Ours is Sam Smith - "Latch". The version by Disclosure was really popular when we first met and started dating so it brings me back to that time. We'll start out with Smith's slow pretty acoustic version, then mix it into the Disclosure dance-y version and invite guests to dance with us. The lyrics make me cry!

"We Bought a Zoo" by Jonsi. We're building a house on 6 acres after the wedding and starting our own little zoo, in a way. It's a very whimsical song without words and to me, feels like the theme song to falling in love and building a life together:

FH chose it - Living Inside My Heart by Bob Seger. He's always loved the song, and the lyrics now mean a lot to him. I don't think I really knew the song before I met him, but I think the words are beautiful too, and the feeling behind them goes both ways.

There was another song that was more of "our song" - we danced in FH's living room to Speechless by Lady GaGa on our second date and it's when I had the moment of knowing he would be my husband. However, that song doesn't really suit a relationship or a wedding - it's about her father. So we ultimately decided to go with something that was still beautiful and meaningful but I guess slightly less special.

That's so sweet! Ours is "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. FH is a big fan of his and we went to one of his concerts about 6 months into dating. I was listening to his songs before the concert and heard this one for the first time and knew I wanted to dance to it at our wedding. It's since become "our song" and we danced to it after FH proposed and I said I wanted it to be our first dance song. It was the first wedding-related decision we made! I still cry every time I listen to it!

We haven't chosen ours yet, but I've been thinking about "Hold You In My Arms" by Ray LaMontagne, except it's kind of a depressing song. But also beautiful, and the chorus is just perfect for a first dance. And we both like the song obviously haha

Rascal Flatts 'The Day Before You'. It was perfect for us!

Ours is old "if i were a carpenter"- Johnny and June cash first time we heard this song years ago we knew it was gonna be our song and hes a carpenter so its fitting

Ours is crazy love by Van Morrison. I always loved that song. One night out with his friends, we weren't dating very long, it came on & FH told his friend it would be our wedding song. From then on it was "our song". 8.5 years later, he plays it and we still dance to it

Ours was "Feels Like Home" by Chantal Kreviazuk, for similar reasons as OP. H is a military contractor and spent the 3 years before we got married in Afghanistan on permanent assignment. He told me he wouldn't propose until he could come home for good. So he got put on a new contract in October, came home, and proposed 6 weeks later. So the song really echoed the "coming home" part.

Grow old by Florida Georgia line.. it just describes us in just the first few words we knew it was ours

I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz. He learned how to play it on the guitar and sang it for me when he proposed and it's just always been 'our song'. It's so true that we will never give up on each other.
