What is your ceremony playlist?

Katelin, on June 21, 2012 at 9:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I was thinking about having piano music as the prelude (I have few songs picked out). Then starting with a slideshow (haven't chosen the songs for it but they will have lyrics). Then I have Canon in D and Here Comes the Bride (both violin/cello versions). For the interlude/unity candle we are either doing I Cross My Heart or a song called Light of Day. For the recessional How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You). FH seems to think this won't go very well together, but won't offer other suggestions. Does this clash? What songs are you using?

Also, there are all going to be recorded track, most likely

Im worried my music might clash... I think yours will be fine!

We are having a country/farm theme so I was trying to have country music all around (not for the dancing lol)

My BMs will be walking to "American Honey" instrumental - lady antabellum, then I will walk to "flightless bird, american mouth" (thats where the clash happens) then once we "kiss the bride" the "American honey" song will play again, this time with the words. When we are announced into the reception we will be playing "Marry You" - bruno mars

I have 23 days and honestly at this point, no one is going to remember these details but me, so it is what it is!! LOL

I love those songs! If FH didn't hate country so much, I would probably have all country songs lol! But think yours will be great. Plus it's more important what it means to you.

We're using all Vitamin String Quartet songs for the ceremony and probably some classical piano music playing quietly before and after the ceremony just so there's something in the background.

I gave my friends free reign for the ceremony music. As a classical violinist, I know I want classical for the ceremony (so me and so beautiful!), but I gave them free reign. All I told them was "no wedding music, please!" Playing a million weddings means I don't want to hear Pachabel's Canon and the famous wedding marches (King's coronation, water music, etc.). I love that music and I love playing it, but it'll get stuck in my head if I hear it and I won't be able to get it out!

The cool thing about most ceremonies is they are long enough between music selections that it doesn't matter what they are as long as they are meaningful to you! I think your selections sound wonderful!

I gave my DJ free reign for the ceremony... He was a friend of a friends and I trusted him... plus I don't really care for much music. I told him what genre's my hubby and I like, my girlfriends made a few suggestions and it turned out amazing! I didn't even know what we were all walking down the isle to but it was all timed well and people are still getting a hold of me and have continued to compliment the atmosphere provided by the music and scenery over and over.

We had a very traditional church wedding so our music was traditional religious music. We used hymns and classical pieces, these were the main choices -

    Jesu joy of man's desiring

Prince of Denmark March aka Trumpet Voluntary

From all that dwell below the skies/Hallelujah

My FH and I are the least bit traditional.

My mother is walking in with my Brother-inlaw to a instrumental song, then next is FH being walked in by his sister & Father to the same song.

Bridesmaids & groomsmen are alternating walking down the aisle to Cannon in D celtic version (FH is part irish)

I am walking down the aisle to "Feels like home" by Edwina Hayes. Our walk back down the aisle song is "You make my dreams come true" Hall & Oates. It fits FH and I perfectly. Smiley smile can't wait!!

Fawn, we're doing a lot of VSQ too!!

The BP will walk in to VSQ "Somebody to Love" (a Queen cover) then I'll walk in to VSQ "Hoppiolla" (a Sigur Ros cover). Then we'll leave to "Beautiful Day" by U2 (FH's request) and we'll enter the reception to "Thunder Struck" (an inside joke between me and FH...because I really hate AC/DC...).

We did a playlist on Spotify and shared it with our DJ.
