What is this, like, fundraising for your wedding?

Okay, I would like to know what some of you think of this, because I was really put off by this the other day and am wondering if it's just me... I was added to a facebook group for a Jamberry FB "party" to help a bride in her wedding preparations. For those who don't know, Jamberry is a company that sells nail wraps and works like Pampered Chef (there is a consultant you have to buy through and a host who gets money by you purchasing the product). First of all, I hate all these multi level marketing things that make you pressure your friends into buying stuff they usually don't need/want, but I'm even more put off by this one because it explicitly says it is to help the bride with her wedding. I am not invited to this wedding, and even if I were, I wouldn't feel very good being asked to help fund an event I was supposed to be a guest at. Am I off base with being irked by this? Would you/have any of your friends done something like this? Curious about the etiquette consensus here.

The only one I like is scentsy! I stopped buying jamberry's a long time ago because they suck so I just use what I have left if I'm bored and it works doesn't work at all. But scentsy is amazing! And I've never had a friend try to guilt me into buying it or have a party.
