What is the most "un-wedding-like" thing on your to-do list?

Candace, on January 21, 2020 at 5:46 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 17
Curious what weird thing(s) are on people's wedding to-do lists! My strangest one is cleaning, leveling, and refinishing a concrete slab in our backyard so it doesn't look like a hot mess under the wedding tent! What is the most "un-wedding-like" thing on your to-do list? 1

My FH's is finishing the deck portion of a pirate ship playhouse we started in the fall! What is the most "un-wedding-like" thing on your to-do list? 2

What's yours?

I don’t think this is too weird, but I want to change all of my piercing to gold before my wedding, even though some of them no one will be able to see, just because I want all of my jewelry to match.

That playhouse is so cool Smiley laugh Did your FH build it from scratch?

Getting a tattoo on my back fixed from 10 years ago when I was 17.....I am DREADING this. I have so much anxiety over it. I remember this being the worst pain of my entire life and I think I've built it up so much in my head that now I panic when I think about getting it done. But my dress is strapless and I neeeeeed to do it.

I'm also doing something similar! I've had my tragus pierced for almost four years and it's SO hard to change yourself (maybe because my fingers aren't very dainty lol). It's been changed once because an old earring fell out and I literally had a random woman at an event help me put one of my other earrings in there so it wouldn't close which took like 15 minutes Smiley xd I just changed it for the first time myself about a week ago and I feel very accomplished that it's now an actual tragus earring and not a "regular" (oddly large for that area) earring

Yes! I cannot get mine out, it’s been in for years so I’m going to go to a piercing place to have them change it for me.

Yes! He's an artist/fabricator by trade, so he is designing and building the whole thing!

Thank you! It's going to be SO RAD when the whole thing is finished (hopefully by the end of the summer). It'll have a captain's quarters playhouse, a crow's nest, and a bunch of rope ladders and rigging to climb on.

Haha!! Totally! Once the pirate ship is complete, we're going to build a two-story fairytale tower next to it, which will be mostly for the grownups and have a bar and a game room!

We had some big aspirations - he was going to sculpt a concrete archway and we were going to carve and paint a bunch of signs - but time just isn't on our side. He's still going to carve and paint our memory sign, and I did all the bouquets and stuff, but otherwise nothing huge.

Does filing visas count? Smiley laugh

We're long distance, so he's moving to the UK to live with me. Very unromantic, and another stressor. Because a wedding wasn't quite enough. Smiley xd

We haven't started it as yet, but I can't say either of us are looking forward to it. Lots of paperwork, money and waiting involved. Then we have to do a second one after 2.5 years. Smiley ups

    Oh, easily: the swordfight rehearsals.

We had a skit and a swordfight with a LOT of our friends, so we had to have a lot of rehearsals. Sometimes we'd go bouncing around the city, visiting different parks, swordfighting with various friends. Super fun - if sweaty, in NYC heat - but a very odd thing to do for one's wedding.
