What is the average cost for flowers?

Mrs. J, on May 29, 2013 at 11:37 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Hi ladies, I'm beginning to contact florists and just wondering what i might expect as far as cost? Other than the bridal party and center pieces are there other floral needs?

Thanks: ) Happy hump day!

It's really hard to say what average is because centerpieces vary greatly.

You may need flowers for: ceremony decor, corsages/bouts for Moms/Dads/Grandparents, cake table & escort card table.

    I don't think there's an average.

you can spend as little or as much as you want. there are expensive flowers and less expensive flowers. Choosing flowers that are season will lower your cost a bit.

We're going to have altar arrangements (2) and a huge urn arrangment in memory of FH's parents. These will all be moved to the reception.

I would go to at least 3 florists in your area and give them all the same list, and see what they say. If someone's significantly cheaper than the rest, consider why. If someone way over-the-top you could probably just eliminate them. You can also "pit" them against one another. "Another florist in town quoted me $500 for this and you're charging $575, can you meet or beat the other quote?"

As much or as little as you want. I'm spending about $400 by DIYing.

It really varies to tell you the truth! I had one florist tell me 1200 for the flowers I wanted and went to a different florist and got more for less than 600.

You need to hunt around and compare quotes from florists.

What colors would you like the bouquets to be, what are your wedding colors?

Believe it or not the flowers were one of my fave things and we DIYed them!

Were they really Michelle? You're much better than me I'm so lost!

We aren't having a wedding party. Just both our brothers. Our wedding colors are sand & sea (destination wedding).. so a light blue and a sand color...

I like white/neutral for me.. but i surely couldn't tell you what type of flower..haha

I was lost when I went to my first consultation but a good florist will guide you. I had pictures of bouquets saved on my Pinterest account so I just showed her the pictures and told her I want something similar. If you aren't having a wedding party or flowers for parents/grandparents you should not be paying a very large amount. Center pieces vary greatly depending on size and flowers. If you are having a church cermony don't forget to think about pew decor (bows/flowers)or arrangements for the top of the aisle.

It really depends on what type of flowers you use. Some are pricier than others depending on what time of year your wedding is. If the florist has to ship in flowers, then of course it will be pricier.

We're using orchards and curly willows for centerpieces. About $45 each and we return the vases after the wedding. Otherwise it would be $90+.

Corsage $35 (very simple roses cheapest they got)

Boutinnere $15 (very simple roses cheapest they got)

Flowers for ceremony 2 large centerpieces for $125 each

Flowers for entrance hall about $125

Flower petals to line ceremony walkway $250

Flower petals for flower girl to throw - Not sure

    Bridal bouquet $70+

    bridesmaids bouquets $50+

These are just estimates for my wedding and the flowers I picked. The prices will vary.

You might need more flowers (if you want) for the guestbook table, gift table, escort table, cake table. But it also doesn't have to be flowers either, it could be anything like tea lights.
