Simone, on July 12, 2016 at 8:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Me and my fiancé are trying to figure what is the average cost for decorating a wedding. We have asked for price quotes from different event planners. All are in the **** range is that too much money? This is what is included: Design of your ceremony and reception, Table Centerpieces Sweet Heart / Head Chair Covers Sashes Plate Chargers Beautiful table linens and/or overlays Linen Napkins Cake Table Décor Unity set-up (unity candle / sand not included) Beautiful candles Room up-lighting and/or GOBO design Provide up to two table meetings Unlimited email and phone consultations. Also wedding party flowers are included in the quote as well.

I didn't use an event planner or external decorations, I was a do-it-yourself bride. But, I would think that amount is probably pretty reasonable. Consider the fact that what is also included is there labor to set it all up and take it all down, which is not going to be limited to just that day. All of the dishware has to come back with them and be washed. All of the Linens washed and pressed. My linens out-of-pocket cost me about $200 total comma and just setting those up on the table alone was a lot of work. My menu included dishware comma but all of our decorations took myself, my mother-in-law, and my mother, literally a full day of setting up the decorations and I thought our wedding was fairly simple. Side note, sorry if this it's somewhat garbled, I'm on mobile using speech to text while I am traveling.

I'm spending more than that for flowers alone. That is a reasonable price. At least for Philly.

Bad thing about all of this is I live in Charleston,SC. Its the number 1 place people come to get married at and I think people hike up the prices for this reason.

Flowers are expensive. If everything is included, that doesn't sound too off. Our flowers were around $1000 for "bare bones" (corsages, boutonnieres, plain hydrangea centrepieces, bouquets). Our decor was pretty minimal as well: a $25 photo frame with $10 of prints, a bunch of string lights $300, $25 floating lights. So around $360 for decorations + 1000 flowers= $1360 total.

These are in CAD and I live in an expensive city (Toronto).

I think it sounds like an amazing deal! My total was closer to 3500 in Detroit, and there are things on your list not included in my package. Also, my fiancée and I discussed the fact that at the end of the night we did not want to have to be collecting items and loading things into cars, we felt having the set-up and tear down included was priceless.

Here is my thing, they may include all of that but what are the accrual options? For example they may limit what flowers you can use, what will they allow for centerpiece options and so on. That may be a basic package price and will only go up. I would go and talk with other vendors and see what they quote and make sure you know the full details and limitations on what the package they quoted includes.

My total is closer to 8,000. It includes all flowers (even at cocktail area and church), linens, sweetheart table, cake table, all chairs, chargers, candles, cocktail tables, other decor, lighting, etc.). They design it, give me a mock up of how it will look and set up and take down. So you are getting a steal in my book. Then again, I'm having quite a bit of flowers with different centerpiece designs.

ETA: that already includes an 11.5% tax...

Flowers are white hydrangeas, roses, peonies, spray roses, baby breath, eucalyptus, italian ruscus and ivy.

Hm. All of that is included in what my vendors already provide and would be a huge waste of money for me, personally. My venue provides all of the center pieces, the linens, etc. My musicians provide uplighting. The only separate vendor I'm paying is my florist, and for church and bridal party, we're just over 1k.

It's not that I think the number you were quotes is unreasonable, I just wonder if you actually need them for everything they say. Additionally, the unlimited call and email support bit sets off alarm bells for me. I would expect nothing less from nay of my vendors, as professionals. Of course, I'm not crazy and all over them, but at certain times of planning, I needed lots of guidance. I can't imagine it would be acceptable for any vendor ever to charge for guidance and feedback, so them including that really concerns me about their quality and ethics.

What did you eventually go with? I'm also getting married in SC and I'm very concerned about cost/vendor. Thank you.
