What is a reasonable amount to spend on bridesmaid dress?

Just curious, how much would you be willing to spend? Under $100? Under $200? Less? More?

We can't answer this question. What you do is ask each bridal party member IN PRIVATE what they feel comfortable spending. The budget for your bridesmaids dresses is the one that fits into the budget of the girl who has the lowest budget.

For me, around $200 is reasonable (although less is awesome of course). For over that amount it'd have to be a pretty spectacular dress that I could really see wearing again.

I didn't want to be responsible for choosing a price that all six of my bridesmaids would be okay with so I let them all choose their own dress. The only requirements were color and length. The most expensive dress was $210.00 and the least expensive was $150.00.

I would pay up to $200 as long as it wasn't super ugly or totally unflattering.

Privately ask your bridal party what their budget is and then work around the least expensive budget. My BMs dresses ranged from $110-$200; I chose a color and fabric and they chose the style. My goal was that they would find something that looked more like a cocktail dress than a BM dress so they could wear them again. I'm pretty budget conscious so I kept track of when there was a sale and then we went shopping. I'd personally expect to spend around $120-$150 on a dress, and hope it was a dress I could wear again.

It depends on the dress and the bridal party. I'm in my friends wedding and would be comfortable up to $200 (but I'm willing to stretch further if she and I and the bridal party all love it.. given I really don't want to spend over $300). For my girls (including the friend who's wedding I'm in), I'll be trying to stick to a more conservative budget. My one friend indicated she really wants to keep it under $200 but I know she is just trying to be nice to stretch it to that. We will look for cheaper. Ask them each privately what they're comfortable with.

I'd expect to pay at least $100. Start getting higher than $150 though and my happiness about it would start to go down lol.

But I'd do it for those I love Smiley smile

Last BM dress I purchased was $120 after a discount for the bride buying her dress there. I think that's reasonable but anything under is awesome.

I would say less than $100. This is YOUR wedding, not theirs. And less than $100 is totally do-able from David's bridal. All my girls paid $49 plus shipping for their dress, total was $65 per girl. I got a bm dress from David's bridal for $49 and actually got a free shipping promo deal....

It DOES depend on what your BMs say though, its not fair for you the bride to pick out a $300 dress and tell your girls "this is the dress I want, go buy it". I'd be like...sorry I can't be in your wedding then. (and even $150 can be a strain on some people)--not to mention travel, gifts and pre-party costs .

My budget is generally 200 for the dress and shoes. That doesn't include budget for travel, gift,Bachelorette party etc..... this is why I feel like being a bridesmaid Is a really big decision financially....people often complain about the cost of being a bridesmaid but that is why you must ask people and can't get upset when they say no...

I've been in 4 weddings and I've never spent over 150 before alterations. That's my goal with my BMs as well.

Around $100 if possible. All my friends are on a budget and I paid attention to that.

I, personally, feel like I could not ask my BMs to spend more than $150. I am currently in the process of getting budget feedback from each of my BMs. The one who I talked to today told me she expected the dress to be over $100.

I'm letting my BMs pick their own dresses so they will have control over exactly how much they spend. I'm asking for their budget info so I can help them coordinate where to go to try on dresses as well as give them reasonable ideas instead of sending suggestions that are out of budget.

My girls dresses retail 299 but with a family discount they'll be 256. They were all fine with the price but they are more on the expensive side...
