What is a reasonable amount to spend on bridesmaid dress?

kels, on March 29, 2016 at 2:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

Just curious, how much would you be willing to spend? Under $100? Under $200? Less? More?

You can get awesome bridesmaid dresses for around $100. Make sure to ask your bridesmaids what they would feel comfortable spending though. Make sure to be considerate of their budgets and find a dress that is under what they all agreed they are able to spend.

Depends on the budget of your BMs.

I would be comfortable with under $200. Maybe more if I get to choose my own dress.

I think it depends for every bridal party. Some brides on here say their BMs' dresses were 300 and everyone was ok with that; others will say no more than 150. Personally, I spoke with all of my BMs to agree on a budget; we ended up agreeing on 150.

What is reasonable to spend is under the lowest amount your bridesmaids tell you when you ask them each their budge privately.

Mine are $200 with the discount the bridal shop offered since I ordered my dress there, as well. I've never paid less than $150, but after participating here for awhile it seems that my friends have had expensive taste! Smiley smile

I personally would be comfortable under $250, but I know my financial situation is much better than some of my friends (I don't mean that in a bragging way- more I'm a practicing attorney with a full time job and they're working their asses off to finish their Ph.D.s). I plan to ask each girl individually what they're comfortable with and then stay within the lowest budget.

Talk to your BMs to find out their budget. I personally wouldn't want to spend over $150, especially if I still had to get alterations. However, some people will be fine with much more and some may have a smaller budget. The only case I'd spend over $150 would be if I got to pick my own dress and it truly was something I could and would wear again.

Ours were $130. Check with your BMs though. I have found that people have very different expectations/opinions about the cost of things. My MOH threw a fit about the cost of FG dresses so I was nervous about talking to the FG's mom about it, but her mom didn't even blink an eye and said it was what she expected. I, personally, would not go over $200 though.

My BMs were comfortable up to $150. We ended up at $129 with a $30 off coupon, so $99 for long dresses Smiley smile

Less than $200. Even $150 is pushing it, IMO. That amount should include all attire, including shoes.

Eh, the one I got for my FSIL's (she's marrying my brother) wedding was $159, but I got for $154 including tax because of a sale. I'm not thrilled about it, but I'm also not surprised.

About 100, they also have hair, makeup, shoes, possibly hotel, gifts for parties, accessories. It gets expensive!

It would largely depend on the dress, but I would spend about $200. Your bridesmaids may (and probably will) vary! I like the idea of picking a color and letting them choose. Some people want a $99 Azazie chiffon dress, others prefer a designer $300 dress that they would wear again. Ask them.

Just picked ours out on Saturday. We did the same color but each of my girls were able to choose their favorite dress. Prices ranged from $99-$140

I think around $100 give or take for a BM dress is perfect. $200 is absurd!

Ask your BP. Mine are 80 and rentals. I felt bad with that much as they have to pay for flights and hotel, but it totally depends on their expectations and other out of pocket costs.

You should probably speak with your bm's and find out what they are comfortable spending.

I want professional hair and makeup for all of us so I do not want to spend more than 100 on their dresses.
