What Does The Father Of The Bride Wear?

Mrs. Simmons, on March 28, 2013 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

So, our colors are yellow, aqua, peach and champagne. My mother is my MOH and his brother is the BM. They are the only 2 in the wedding party. She is wearing a peach dress and heels and he is wearing an aqua shirt, black pants, a black bowtie, and suspenders (like my groom Smiley laugh). But I have no clue what my dad should wear! Help! Do I match him with the boys or with my mom? I'm thinking of putting him in a vest cause 1. He's not a fan of suspenders & 2. I kind of want him to stand out just a little. Black pants for him as well. But I don't know what color his shirt should be or what color his vest should be! And should he wear a bowtie too?! Why's this so difficult lol

Do you want your parents to match in the pictures of just the three of you? If yes, match to mom. If no, do you want him to match the guys? If yes, I like the vest idea so he stands apart...but what is your FFIL wearing? If he doesn't coordinate, then your dad shouldn't have to either.

Our groomsmen are wearing black tuxedos and bow ties. We decided to put the dads in regular long ties. The vests are solid silver pin dot front and black solid back, and the ties have a textured striped patter on them with different shades of silver, gray, and black.

Edit: clarification: that's FH's dad and step dad. My dad is wearing Navy mess dress.

Usually, the mother and father wear neutral colors, not necessarily matching the bridal party. But I think in your case, since your party is small, do have your dad wear the same colors as your BM. Suspenders or not, vest or not - does not matter. He should not match your mom and he should have a special boutonniere - perhaps with something nostalgic, like a medal, an old key or a small pocket watch; something sentimental to him.

I don't know what FFIL is wearing. We don't talk to him very much lol so we should probably figure that out. Is he supposed to stand out as well?

I am having my dad wear the same tux as my FH and groomsmen. I picked different vest to seperate everyone. Dad = Black, FH = Platinum and GM = Dark Purple.

You're my color twin and have a small bridal party like me. FH is not having a BM. He's wearing a khaki suit, khaki vest and an aqua colored funky tie. Dad is wearing khaki suit, white shirt and peach and aqua funky tie.
