I would imagine there is a key on the menu that indicates the meaning.

Or you can ask the place whence the menu came.

Is it by pricing? Could indicate it starts at that price but can go up.

+ service fees + tax. Example, if your price per person is $20 and your service fee is 22% and state sales tax is 7%, your actual per person price is truly $25.80.

    Plus service, plus tax.

At our venue, service was 21% and tax was 10%.

So $100++ becomes a lot more than it looks like!

You should ask what their service and tax rates are so you can calculate the fully-loaded cost.

I'm guessing plus service (18-22%) and tax.

    Just ask.

I see service and tax rates normally 22% and 7% sales tax, so yeah I think that's what it was I felt so dumb

Don't feel dumb. Unless you're used to dealing with catering there is no reason you would know that. Better to ask now than be hit with the surprise later.

Your best bet would be to ask the caterer so there are no surprises.

Thank you everyone Smiley smile after looking at some of these prices I will be scaling back my guest list to those we have had contact with because I'm like oh my god I'm a picky eater and Either us or my father would be paying so much for something I might not even like.

What do people think about Olive Garden as a catered meal?

Personally I'm not a fan of their food. Not sure where you are, but is there a Maggianos near you?

I think it's using the word 'catering' in its loosest sense. It's like Italian food made by non Italians.

    keep looking

A Maggianos is about 30 minutes from me...I just inquired about their banquet space ironically....only reason I'm thinking Olive Garden is that FH proposed there and it's our favorite restaurant

Eta: I inquired about Maggianos banquet space and catering. Trying to get something decently priced booked by Christmas and don't want to procrastinate

++/+++ is a common "term" used when there's more fees tacked on the back end that vary based on the final price of what you're buying. Like if you go to buy a car, they'll put that on their negotiation sheets since taxes, tags, and fees vary based on the price of the car (like $21,574 +++). Same thing here!
