What do you think of Fall/Winter weddings?

What do you guys think of fall/winter weddings? I've never been to one, and I'm having a terrible time picking a date. Our original date was supposed to be August 9th, 2014, but I had to undergo a pretty serious spine surgery and several months of recovery in April. Being off work left me low on funds, plus I wanted to be totally recovered and back into the swing of things before the wedding, so we decided to postpone until we could get our sh!t together. We don't really want to wait until next summer. I'm 35 and my bio clock is ticking. FI is a teacher, so we could always wed the weekend before spring break, but I'm concerned that a) people will be out of town/have other plans and b) traveling during such a high season will be a nightmare. My latest idea is to do a Friday, later evening cocktail reception second weekend of November, just before Veteran's Day weekend. It seems like it could work, but I feel like there's gotta be a reason no one else gets married at that time.

I got married that weekend! I had always wanted a Spring wedding growing up, but then fell in love with fall. I really wanted Oct., but our venue would not work on us with the dates until Nov. Not what I expected, but I loved my November wedding.

    1) It was a perfect 70 degrees that day (just luck I guess, 3 days later the high was 43 degrees) 2) Venue was about a fourth of the price of peak season 3) The night was chilly and we lit the fire place (always romantic) 4) No one else had a wedding date near mine.

Oh, and most people were off that following Monday and hung around on Sunday. It was fun to visit with everyone.

All my favorite weddings have been in the Fall, it's a beautiful time of year and the weather is ideal... but I'm not biased at all. It's also one of the most popular times of year to get married. At least in Jersey, it's far surpassed June as the go-to time to have a wedding.

Winter is beautiful as well, FH and I had planned on a winter wedding to lift everyone out of the winter blues (family crises changed that to a fall wedding) but you have to keep in mind the snow! Our original date this past January saw record snow fall and part of the state was shut down.

If football season wasn't during the fall/winter, we would have had a fall wedding. They're beautiful and like some of the others said, not as hot. Plus, you get your pick of vendors and usually for less since it's off season!

This is going to sound weird, but I love winter weddings. I mean the dead of winter -- like January and February. After the excitement of the holiday season passes, there is this long, dull wait for spring. A wedding is something beautiful to look forward to -- a social event that's sure to brighten everyone's spirits. Plus, you get the added benefit of off-season rates, and because the days are so much shorter, you can start your wedding in the afternoon, and still have the feel of an evening reception because it's dark at 5:00 PM.

Fall weddings are very popular. October is a busy month. You have gorgeous days without the intense heat of summer, and the changing colors are a natural backdrop.

My least favorite weddings are outdoor in June, July and August (although May is gorgeous). I hate sweating, I hate sitting in the sun, and I hate stinging insects.

Whatever time of the year you chose to get married, there are advantages.
