What do we officially call our Pre Wedding Bash??

Okay so my MOH had a small bridal shower for me with just the women a couple weeks ago. The closest aunts and cousins in the family and closest friends. But my mother and her boyfriend want to throw us a clam boil/ pool party bash before the wedding. We want to send out invitations to make it official so people will be able to make it and stuff. What should we call it? We are getting married August 27 and my mom is hesitatnt of calling it another shower. I suggested a "pre wedding bash in honor of us" with guys and girls and friends and family. Any ideas of what to call the party and how to word the invitations? We want to have a 50/50 raffle and stuff and we were thinking of having pot luck too for everybody.

Pre-Wedding Celebration?

You can call it whatever you want. It's a pool party- I wouldn't worry to much about ettiquette. The only rule I'd be sure to follow is that no one is invited to the pre-wedding bash that isn't invited to the wedding itself. It's not a shower, but it's a still a celebration of the marriage and people may potentially bring small gifts.

But thats the problem. People that arent being invited to the wedding want to come and celebrate with us. So I am not sure if it should be something official or just send out invites for a clam boil?

"Welcome to the Party of the Century! Mr. and Mrs. (TO BE) Pre-Wedding Bash", is what I am calling mine. Reason: Bride: 57 yrs old, 1st marriage; Groom: 57 yrs old, 3rd marriage. It's a Pig Roast/BBQ with all the fixings. Hot/cold beverages, wine and beer stations, raffles for ticket holders. Donation $25 per person, No Gifts
