We got the go ahead from our venue saying we can have a wedding of 100 people in September. We may have to cut the list back but it will all be good! Except...the best man is refusing to come. We got the go ahead from our venue saying we can have a wedding of 100 people in September. We may have to cut the list back but it will all be good! Except...the best man is refusing to come. And it's crushing my fiance. I asked if he would come if we went for our backup plan, which is only bridal party, parents, siblings, and grandparents. And he still said no. We are not postponing another year, we have waited too long and all our vendors are fully booked for next year.

I don't know what to do. My fiance is heartbroken and I don't know the right decision to make.

What state are you in? im a healthcare worker in NY. Healthcare workers have the lowest rate of infection because of the procedures taken. we also get tested once a week. most healthcare workers i know are not worried about infecting others althought if youre in a state where cases are on the rise it would be a thought. he has no higher chance of infecting others than anyone else. i think this may just be an excuse for him to back out but i dont know him obviously. i would talk to him and tell him you really want him there and you will take any precautions necessary to ease his anxiety. if he’s hellbent on not coming I would just it be. i wouldnt postpone just because of him

What you do is continue with your wedding. Everyone isn’t comfortable being around others during this pandemic, especially not knowing who they’ve been around or whether a person is asymptomatic. So, simply respect his decision and move forward with yours.
