What do i do ? Help!

Jessica, on February 4, 2022 at 4:23 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
Has anyone had to cut bridesmaids ? If so, how did you do it? Originally my fiance and I had 5 groomsmen and bridesmaids each. Now my fiance only has 1 groomsman due to Covid and other restraints. What do we do?

Sides don't have to be even. If you only cut some of them for aesthetics and because it will be more beautiful in your photos, that means you're considering the girls like props.
What if a bride-to-be cuts you as a bridesmaid because her partner doesn't have as many people as she does? Would you be pleased?
You should keep everyone and -no- your photos won't look less beautiful. As for the ceremony, you could ask 2 girls to stand behind the groomsman if you want things to be "balanced" but please don't kick anyone out for the sake of photos.

Are you saying the groomsmen quit because they're worried about COVID? Your wedding is in May and the numbers are expected to go down significantly by then. I would have him encourage those groomsmen to wait and see before they back out for good.

    I wouldn’t un-bridesmaid anyone. It’s rude for any reason.

Even sides are outdated and not a reason to cut bridesmaids who have already committed to you. This will cause a lot of hurt feelings. A skilled photographer will know how to pose everyone so that it looks balanced. If you’re worried about the ceremony then you can have some of the girls stand on the opposite side but it really is fine to keep them on your side. In 10 years all that will matter is that they were there for you, not if there was an equal amount of groomsmen

So you’re ditching your closest friends because your fiancé‘s friends backed out?

Yeah I wouldn't insult your friends because you want to keep sides even. Your friends aren't props.

Definitely don’t cut bridesmaids just to make sides even! These are your nearest and dearest friends, and you chose them to stand by you on one of the most important events in your life because of their importance to you, not because they will look good or “even” in photos. If you are worried about the aesthetic of this, just have the bridesmaids and groomsman walk down the aisle and sit in the front row, rather than stand with you during the ceremony.
