From weddings you attended in the past, what things have you seen that stood out to you as super fun and memorable?

To be frank I don’t notice things like decor. For me it’s more about experiences like if there’s a photobooth or a dessert table

As a guest I love personal details. I love when couples so basically anything not “cookie cutter” whether that be their table plan, decor, food, drinks, speeches - anything! I’m also a sucker for very personalised ceremonies. As long as there’s plenty of food, drinks and nice people I’ll definitely have fun but the weddings I remember were full of personal details that really represented the couple. Eg a favor of fudge because that was their cats name, table names of all the places they’d travelled together and told me about etc. Some people don’t notice that stuff but it’s always my favorite part!

I love personalized ceremonies, good food, open bar and lots of dancing. If the bride and groom aren’t dancing, I will leave early.

    What Courtney said.

We had friends who got married in a Jane Austen-meets-Godzilla themed wedding. It was mostly traditional, but the ring-bearer had a green monster pillow, the tables had Austen book covers with Godzilla artfully photoshopped in... that kind of thing. They also had a unique ceremony with a skit about the officiant not being able to legally marry them (he nearly wasn't, the paperwork had gotten delayed!), and the BP all chiming in about if they were "allowed" to or not (say, one had been Juliet in a show recently, so bad luck, another was able to officiate weddings, but... not at this altitude, sorry, man, etc.). This was an incredibly memorable wedding, because it was so *them*.

Good food and good entertainment will go a long way towards guests having fun, but anything that makes the wedding about the two of you turns it into stand-out memories.

(For the record, we had a swordfight at the reception, and a ceremony themed around our baseball team.)

We loved it when varied appetizers were passed, and when the ceremony was in the same location as the reception! My FH and I haven't been to any (?) weddings that have had fun themes or photo booths or personalized vows or anything like that, but those nights are still memorable for us. Guests really just want a fun party.

Great food, drinks, and DJ is what I remember most about a wedding. If any of those are terrible, I will never forget it!

Alyssa's brother's mashed potato bar sounds amazing!

I think the food is super important. It doesn't have to be fancy, but paying attention to details and knowing your guests makes it good. I went to a Filipino wedding with a buffet of Filipino food and it was all so amazing, and it got people to try new things. One wedding I went to went late into the night and they brought out mini grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup and small plates of tater tots as a midnight snack. Our food was very standard (chicken, steak, pasta, etc) because we had a lot of picky eaters, but we really made sure to get really good tasting food and everyone said it was the tastiest food they'd had at a wedding.

One thing that we didn't really plan with the intention of how the guests would enjoy it was our ceremony, but everyone really liked it anyway. We kept it short (20-30 minutes) and fairly casual. We had a pastor as our officiant, but it was non-denominational for the most part because we're not really religious. It was light and there were a few jokes. We read our vows, which we wrote ourselves and were short. We did a wine box unity ceremony. We just planned the ceremony how we wanted it (short and sweet), but a lot of people -- especially older people -- really enjoyed it. Maybe because it was personal? Maybe because it was short? Not sure, but it's nice to plan things to what you want, and I think people are receptive to that.

My favorite piece for the ceremony is when the couple writes their own vows because it just makes the the ceremony so personal, and for the reception, at my sister's wedding the DJ played a game where they sat back to back and were asked question of who is more likely to do x and it was just really cute and it let all the guests get to know the bride and groom because all the guest don't always know both

I love when ceremonies are personal, and integrate the guests as part of the union!
