What can we do instead of table numbers??

Private User, on July 3, 2013 at 10:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 27

Hello all! I have been struggling for an idea of what to do besides table numbers. Something more on the creative side, and shows more of our personality. I thought about giving each table a song name and when that song plays they get up for their food (we are doing buffet style). Has anyone had any success with this or have any other creative suggestions?

Thanks!

That sounds like a cute idea. We are doing different mountain names cuz the wedding is in the mountains and it's kind of a mountain outdoorsy theme... I'm probably going to put numbers with them as well though because we have a pretty big guest list so it's easier to find your table with numbers...

FH's cousin and his bride are HUGE sports fans so they named their tables after professional teams. We were seated at the Ravens table (FH is a fan)

Do you have a theme? If so, you can do table names that match your theme.

I like the song idea.. I've seen where tables were given the name of a literary couple such as Gatsby and Daisy, but that works better for a book theme.

Famous concerts (bonaroo, warped tour, Woodstock..etc). Famous love story characters(daisy and Gatsby, Romeo and Juliet..) Disney love quotes. Hope that helps!

We're naming each table after a baseball stadium (framing a picture of the stadium) and the escort cards wil be tickets to a game at that stadium.

FH's sister is doing maps and places they've been, they travel a lot.

I'm doing B-Horror movies but will probably address them numbers as well.

I considered doing different Motown Artists for the Table since our theme is Motown. As far as the music I probably wouldn't do different music or the buffet for each table, I could imagine that being a little extra work for the DJ but I could possibly see how it might not be too bad depending on the size of the wedding.

We're just doing numbers. Takes the guesswork out of guests finding them.

    "where's table romeo?"

    "Next to table cinderella"

    "where's that?"

Though I love the personalized ideas! We toyed with it for a while, but decided against it.

I have seen where you still have a number, then explain why the number is special to you. Ex Table 5: Trena and Jeremy got engaged on this day in August 2011.

We also did sports teams. It was great because our guest got a kick out of being seated at their opposing team, which are our favorite teams.

We are just doing open seating. It's not a big wedding, about 60 people and I didn't want the headache of doing a seating chart. We have a sign in our colors with a cute saying on it telling guest its open seating.

We named each table after a hotel in a city that had meaning to us

Avalon Beverly Hills (where i worked when we met)

Rio Las vegas (where we met - ridiculous)

The London NYC (where i worked after moving to NYC to be with him)

El San Juan (where we got engaged)

Ritz Carlton (where we got married)

    Georges Cinq Paris (honeymoon)

These are all such wonderful ideas! We have no set theme just our colors. I really like the unique ideas but will probably incorporate numbers as well to avoid confusion. I would like to skip assigned seating all together but I have a large guest list.

What about numbers that are related to the couple: First date, first kiss, house or apt number, date became engaged, wedding date, etc.

Hadn't really thought about how to label the tables, but this seem like a neat idea. I might use different H-D motorcycles to label our tables.

U have tons of options. Years and put a put a picture of u two in that year, random numbers and explain what it means to u(2002 when they met, 2 the number of dogs they have) or stick with ur idea. It's cute and interactive. My FH loves the ravens so my table numbers are cutouts of ravens jerseys/players names

I'd do something that has a logical sequence. It can be overwhelming and hugely frustrating wandering in and out of tables with random names. At least numbers give you some direction. Table 4 is going to be somewhere in the vicinity of table 3 and 5 so you know you're getting close.

There are some fun ideas out there, but I've seen them fail in execution.

I really like the song idea. What about your favorite movies? Although it involves numbers, I love the idea of having a picture of both you and your FH at different ages that correlates with the number. i.e. having pictures of when you were 9 on table 9. It's a good conversation starter for the guests.
