Rose petals are traditional & normal, but boring...my wedding is definetly not normal, so what can I have my flower girls release from their baskets besides those boring rose petals? I've thought of candy, but the ceremony area is also the reception area & I wouldn't want smashed candy all over the floor. Plus, why would they throw out candy when there is going to be a candy bar. What are my alternatives? Any ideas?

You will be able to buy fake leaves at the crafts stores or even dollar tree or other dollar stores. I like that Idea! they will also be easy to pick up. You can also do real leaves from outside (FREE).

    Make ribbon wands.

Buy long craft sticks at a craft store. Buy long rolls of ribbon in your wedding colours. Attach ribbon to wood, maybe curl the ribbon with scissors as well if it is that kind of ribbon.

Instead of having them "toss flowers" have them pass out the ribbon wands to everyone as they walk down the aisle, then... when they reach the end of the aisle, instruct them to take the last wand (they each keep one for themselves) and raise it in the air, making everyone else along the aisles do it as well.

Can you imagine walking down the aisle with everyone raising the ribbon wands as an imitation sword arch? Most people do the ribbon arch at the end of the wedding (seen here: http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/orange-and-green-ribbon-wands.jpg ) but you can be different and do it for the walk down the aisle. Smiley smile

@ Rachel, that's definetely unique, but my guest are sitting at tables for the ceremony & reception, I wouldn't want to block anyones view. Cool idea though!

You are so very welcome! Anything for a WW sister!

Now that I've been searching for these leaves I'm finding a ton of pretty stuff that could be used for a fall wedding. Why didn't I think of some of these ideas and could have gotten married this fall?!?!

I'm so inspired by WW weddings that I wish I could get married 16 times. Each one would be a different time of year with a different theme!
