What Are You Doing With Your Dress After The Wedding?

I'm curious what everyone is doing with their wedding attire (dresses, suits, veils, hair pieces, jewelry, shoes, etc) after the wedding day. Are you preserving your dress? Donating it? Selling it? Altering it into something you can wear again? Other ideas? What are you doing with your...

My ensemble includes a cream lace knee length sheath dress, and a sheer "coat" over it, which can be worn again. I'm not sure I'd wear the coat over it but it was originally bought and can be worn over a different lace dress, especially for our anniversaries or a summer wedding. I have a lightweight pashmina shawl I can wear over the dress. The shoes are pointy toe d'Orsay flats that I bought last Easter and wore once, and they happened to match the dress perfectly, but can be worn with just about anything. I'd bought a pair of gold metallic ballet flats that would look great with the dress on another occasion. The headpiece is a small bow with a small "birdcage" veil on it - I doubt I'd wear it again unless some bride needs a bridesmaid in a hurry and doesn't mind me wearing a cream colored dress. Which is doubtful as I am 71 and all my friends are long married, lol!

I don't blame you for not wanting to mail it in - I'd be nervous about the dress getting lost in the mail! Awesome that you've worn your wedding jewelry even after the wedding - I also frequently wear the jewelry from my wedding.

Ooh, I love that you will be able to wear so many pieces from your wedding day attire again! I wear my wedding jewelry often, and it still makes me smile and remember my wedding when I put the jewelry on.

Thanks! How nice that you still wear your wedding jewelry - what pieces do you still wear? I'm wearing special jewelry that I already have: a short genuine pearl necklace that hubby gave me last Christmas, with a small diamond and gold cross that was Mom's, on a gold chain that was her Mom's. And, if it doesn't pull at the lace, a small gold tone bracelet watch with tiny diamonds around the bezel - it's a good watch (I forget the brand) and belonged to my MIL. The earrings are gold and tiny diamond pearl drop earrings that I bought for myself years ago, and a pearl bracelet with a gold clasp - again if it doesn't catch on the lace of the sleeves.

Did you wear it out to a restaurant for a 1st anniversary dinner? That could be fun.

I think I will do that, next June 4, the date of our church wedding this year! I have other accessories I can wear it with - different shoes & purse, a matching shawl.
