What Are You Doing For Bridesmaids Dresses?

What colors/styles are your bridesmaids wearing? Are the dresses all the same style/color? Or different? Long dresses, or short? Share a picture of the dresses your bridesmaids are wearing for your wedding!

Those are beautiful dresses! I like that they don't look like typical bridesmaids dresses either, so they can wear them again after the wedding. Bummer that the color wasn't exactly what you wanted, but that's awesome that they are great otherwise! Nice find!

Thank you! I really wanted something that didn't look like a traditional bridesmaid dress! I know the likelihood is the girls won't ever wear the dresses again, but I would! I'm the same size as my sister, so maybe she'll give me hers afterwards, lol!

And the colour isn't too bad, just not quite as baby pink as I wanted. WIth all the details I wanted to include, I really did better than expected!

I always like when people choose non-traditional bridesmaids dresses! If I could go back in time, I'd probably spend a little more time looking for something different for my bridesmaids, lol. Glad that the color isn't bad, even if it wasn't what you wanted! Colors sometimes look different in pictures, so maybe this color will end up looking more like the baby pink color in your photos.

Sorry for writting a long reply but I'm overly chatty, including on WW. Be patient 🤐.

"I would discuss first with your fiancee to let her know what you're thinking for your part of the wedding party": This is a thing that has strongly rubbed her the wrong way, to be honest. If I could go back in time, I would definitely have this discussion with her since it was important to her.

Plus: My sister took her by surprise when she mentioned the skirt suit a few weeks ago, since it's not common for a WP member .
In fact, my twin doesn't hate dresses but she's more comfortable and confident in skirts and she likes the fact that this is an outfit she will be able to wear again: at other events and even at work.
However: Both sisters are willing to compromise by getting their hair and make up professionally done and by discussing shoes with her (my fiancee is having a professional hair & make-up artist for herself and she wanted from day 1 the girls on both sides to get their hair and MU professionally done. Of course, we are paying for their shoes, hair and make up, things they initially declined but:

    1) They want to extend an olive branch to her.

    2) They are the best sisters ever!

That sounds like a great compromise between them! Your fiancee can still feel included in the decision, and your sisters can wear what they feel most comfortable in. I do agree with your twin that being able to wear the outfit again makes it that much more appealing. My biggest regret with bridesmaids dresses is that I wish we picked out ones that aren't the typical bridesmaid dress, and instead found ones where they would likely wear them again, but they all seem happy with their current dresses, so it all works out!

We just picked ours this weekend. Long, hunter green chiffon dresses. 1 is off the shoulder, 1 is spaghetti strap. I wanted both of my bridesmaids, who have very different body types and coloring, to feel comfortable and beautiful, while still staying focused on color.

Honestly: I don't know much about dresses lol.
But in my mind, most bridesmaids dresses are re-wearable.
Some female guests wear a 'bridesmaid dress' at every wedding. It's not a big deal, unless your bridesmaids will only attend casual, backyard weddings after yours.Sure: this is a male point of view LOL but my FW was a bridesmaid 3 years ago, she wore her dress last year as a guest, she wants to wear it at our couple shower and maybe at our rehearsal dinner (but not during the rehearsal itself).

That makes sense! I think it totally depends on the person and a little bit on the dress. I love to see when dresses are worn more than just once, lol. The dresses I have are certainly wearable for future events, but I personally have never worn any of my past bridesmaids dresses again. For me, this is because I'm afraid that if I wear it to someone else's wedding (where I'm not a wedding party member), I'll somehow end up accidentally matching their bridesmaids or being mistaken for one of the bridesmaids. I think that's awesome that your FW still wears her bridesmaids dress for years after the wedding!! Great idea for her to wear it to your couples shower and rehearsal dinner, I hadn't thought of that before!

This is why I discussed this with my fiancee, right after reading your reply LOL because I'm super curious!

She told me that she asked both the bride and the groom (he had a groomswoman) and showed them her dress to make sure she wouldn't match or upstage the WP if she ended up wearing it. The couple gave her permission to wear it.

Asking the couple about it is a good solution! I'll have to consider that for future weddings I attend, thank you for the idea!

My bridesmaids dresses are a plum purple color and I let them choose their own style of dress. I wanted the same color. I didn't care they were identical looking.

I did something similar to this, I picked the color, and let them each pick their own style. The plum color will look pretty for your wedding!

I haven't picked out the actual dresses yet. I just want it to be a golden shade, and I don't think my bridesmaids would object. I think it flatters all of my bridesmaids skin tones and is a pretty color in general. I'm thinking an a-line/ballgown style, but I can be flexible.

Gold is pretty! Are you doing different shades of gold? Or all the same color?

Probably the same shade of gold. I know it's a modern thing to do mismatched bridesmaid dresses, but I'd prefer if they were all the same or at least similar. I will get my bridesmaids opinions before making any decisions though.
