Traci, on April 21, 2010 at 8:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

What are the boxes called where people put cards for the Bride and Groom in? some people use bird cages. Is there an offical name for these guys?

Or You could use the formal term:

Le Boxes pour cards avec cash ( couldn't think of the friend word for money!)

Lol thanks sharon. After multiple attempts to find the right box. I think we are going to find a vintage suitcase and cut a slit in it. I just have to find one that is not so big.

My mom, being italian, and always calling a monetary gift a "purse" or a "boost" fondly refers to it as the "boost box" ...but yeah.. card box works. Smiley smile

Traci thats a great idea actually.. esp. if it goes with ones theme. I know the Christmas Tree Shoppe (idk where you live, or if you have one of those local to you or not) but they have these stationary sets which are in these very pretty, fanciful boxes made to look like (small) suitcases. You should take a look!

Thanks Aimee, thats a good idea. Matt and I have started looking at good wills to see what they have, no luck yet. I think the hardest part will be finding something the right size.

I would avoid cutting the suitcase and just prop it open! Then again, I collect antique luggage..I'm waiting for a chance encounter with a steamer trunk... *sigh*

@ Traci... If you can't find a suitcase, I found these hollow books with old world maps on them at Michaels... they are just storage boxes but they really cute and cheap. I'm not cutting a hole in mine cuz it's not that deep but it stays open really well... Just a suggestion...

Are any of you afriad people will take the cards out of the boxes? I have ready horror stories about that. I guess that does not put much faith in my family or my venue huh?

Haha i never thought of that... must be why there are slits... well my planner will be loading everything in the car during dinner so I'm hoping she won't take anything... I guess you just have to have faith in your loved ones and venue, or Hire cardbox security!!! haha

Oh that reminds me of a wedding show I watched where the kids planned the wedding for their parents, and the youngest boy... he was maybe 4 or 5 wanted to have a stormtrooper guarding the cake! haha... and they actually got a guy in a stormtrooper outfit to guard the cake... they even had a video of the mom dancing with him!!! haha... is that an option?
