What alcohol do you want to see at a wedding?

FME, on January 29, 2018 at 4:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 23

I posted about this months ago but can't find the post now...We are supplying our own alcohol for the wedding. We are doing Regular Beer, Light beer, and a craft beer, a wine selection and limited liquor. I rarely drink, if I do it's wine or margaritas so.... If you're going to a wedding what are you drinking? Does the brand of the liquor sway you? I'm trying to figure out what's popular and what the Good brands of liquor are. I don't want cheap stuff...I'm okay paying for middle-top shelf, so what would you like to see?

This is what I have so far:

Beer: Miller Lite, Stella and Jai-Ali IPA (local family favorite beer)

Wine: Mixture of sweet, dry red and white

Liquor: 2x Rum, 2xTequila, 3xVodka. (Brand recommendations please!)

The websites I read recommend Gin, do people drink Gin? The only person I know who drank gin was my great-grandma (RIP) I'm planning on leaving it out, unless it's a popular option I'm unaware of.

(Our caterer is supplying all mixers)

Gin & tonic is my go-to and a lot of my friends drink it, so I would say include it. I’d also add whiskey, maybe a bottle of Jack and a bottle of Jameson, depending on your guest size. And maybe for the rum, do a light and dark rum, like Captain Morgan and Bacardi.

My go to is always vodka soda. Tito's is my favorite brand of vodka.

I love a good vodka cranberry, & Titos is my favorite vodka. Rum (Bacardi) & pineapple is another go-to.

    I second the Tito’s rec.

im doing gin but only because it is a summer wedding and I know gin & tonics are a go-to summer drink for a lot of people, any other setting and I wouldn’t have bothered with it.
We’re definitely doing whiskey because mine is a BIG whiskey crowd!

I will third Titos - My favorite mid-range silver tequila is Milagro, I think it is just as good as Patron but way cheaper. I personally hate dark tequila but Jose Cuervo is good for a dark mid-range. We are doing one dark rum (Captain) and one light (Bacardi). I would have Gin as I know a bunch of people like G&Ts and think it's best to just get it. Jack Daniels is good for whiskey - would definitely add this to the list.

I would also get a small bottle of vermouth for martinis.

Honestly label doesn't really sway me as long as it's not really really bad. Anything that comes in a glass bottle is usually fine in my book.

I would add a darker beer, either a brown or a stout. Newcastle, Guinness, something along those lines. My liquor preferences are:

    Whiskey - Jameson

Vodka - Tito's or Kettle One

    Tequila - Casamigos

    Rum - Sailor Jerry, Bacardi

    Gin - Hendricks or Tanqueray

    Vodka - kettle one
    Rum - Bacardi & Captain
    I don't drink gin so I can't help there
Tequila - I'll drink any tequila so again no help
    Whiskey - Jameson
Jai-Ali is a great beer! I'd add a lager to your beer list.

I would also add some sort of whiskey as well. We also will supply our own liquor and will do something like -

    Beer: DosX, Shiner, Coors Light

Wine: Nice Red, Cheap Red, Nice White, Cheap White

Liquor: Lots of Tito's Vodka and lots of Jack Daniels Whiskey. Then a few bottles of Captain Morgan Rum and Jose Cuervos Tequila. Maybe one small bottle of gin? No one in our friend group or family really drinks gin so probably not.

Thanks for the feedback! What do we think about this list? Is it enough? Do I need more?

I am basing this off a guest count of 80, with ~30% drinking liquor

    2x Tito's Vodka (1.75L)

    2x 1800 Tequila (1.75L)

    2x Bacardi Rum (1.75L)

    1x Jack Daniels (1.75L)

    1x Makers Mark (1.75L)

    1x Captain Morgan (1.75L)

    1x Tanqueray Gin (750ml)

I'd stick with a white wine (sweet or dry). Stella is nice too.

    My drinks of choice are:

For beer- corona, coors light, or blue moon (or anything, but those are my go tos)

Wine- Riesling, Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio, or Cabernet or Malbec (Basically I only won't drink merlot), or sparkling!

    Cocktails -
    Vodka cranberry, or a margarita

I'd skip the gin and have whiskey available. Jack and Coke is a big go to wedding drink! Tito's vodka is very popular and as someone with a bit of an allergy to vodka it is the only one that doesn't make me break out and itch (soooo that might speak to the quality of the ingredients, I'm not really sure). I'd maybe add another beer or possibly a cider (especially for your GF guests).

I agree with everything Jen said but I would switch the tequila to 1800 reposado.

I love gin and tonic at a wedding! Bombay baby! But if you didn't have it, I would be fine with a rum and coke too! (Can't go wrong with a dark and a light Bacardi!)

I like Malibu rum! Can't do Bacardi or Captain. Goes well with Diet Coke or most juices. If I'm drinking Vodka, I prefer a fruity flavored version. But I know those aren't for everyone.

I think you need a scotch. I'll usually have a couple scotches earlier in the night, then will switch to wine. But I know plenty of people who will drink it all night, or have a scotch or bourbon as an after-dinner drink. My personal favorite is Dewar's, but Johnny Walker is another good option. The red label is fine, the black label is better.
