The ceremony/reception was held in a city park. It started an hour and 15 minutes late, because the bride said she wanted to make an entrance. REALLY! Now I remind you we was seating outside with the sun beaming hard with no shade, umbrellas or nothing. The ceremony was entirely too long, the processional was 30 minutes alone. The wedding party consist of 15 BM,15 GM,3 FG,2 RB, a broom carrier, 2 little boys holding a banner and a mini B&G. Not including the 3 solos, 2 readers and officiate that wanted to have church. After we arrived at the hall, there was no cocktail hour, no music . One of the family members asked the DJ could he play music until the B&G arrive. He said No he will start at the time he was paid to start and not before. So we sat for another hour with no hors d'oeuvres or music. After the B&G arrived the party started, they had 7 important dances and then decided to serve dinner. The line started for the buffet and half-way though they ran out of food. So about 20% of the guest didn’t get any food at all. During this time I would say about 40 guests left the reception and never returned. The parents finally made it back after another hour or so with food. The rest of the guest was served and it was going ok. Now the reception hall that was used is owned by the city, so you can’t have any alcohol. The park manager pulled the B & G to the side and told them some of their guest was drinking outside. And it must be put away immediately or the event must end. I felt so bad for her I almost cried !

Is this an episode of Bridezilla??? Who has 15 bridesmaids?? No one has that many friends.

While this day is about you and FH its also you and FH throwing the biggest party of your lives - the guests have to be taken care of.

Your FH was right on - Looks like a FOOL

I feel bad for the guests, not so much for the couple that planned this event. They could of prevented this all with better planning.

Hahaha I can't believe she told you not to steal her ideas! And good for you for taking the high road, but really, that totally seems more like it was all her fault. Thanks for the music tip though because I initially was only going to get a DJ for the reception, I didn't even think about for the reception / cocktail hour - YIKES!!

Clearly, her priorities are very different from ours. We got our dresses from a consignment store and had only two attendants, but put all our guests up for two nights and gave them a choice of lobster or filet mignon at the reception. And we took the attitude that if people showed up without gifts, we would be grateful that they came to celebrate with us instead of staying home due to embarrassment about not being able to afford a gift.

The good news is, I suspect you won't even be a little bit tempted to steal her ideas.

That blows!!! In one hand she asked for it, not planning well enough or hiring the right services to be responsible and accountable on the big day but she can't control everything, poor girl!
