Welcome Party Enclosure Wording

Haley, on April 26, 2019 at 1:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Does anyone have any suggested wording to invite people to a casual desserts/coffee/champagne welcome party Friday evening. The majority of our guests are coming from out of town, but many may choose to drive in the day of, so I don't want anyone to change their plans to make this if they're not already in town. I'm hoping to have this information on the enclosure card, and will have a little lengthier explanation on our wedding website. Any suggestions?!

Maybe something like "If you are in town Friday evening, please join us for a welcome get-together at X PM at X location. Desserts, coffee, and champagne will be served."

We put this only on our website and on information cards we put in hotel welcome bags. I also didn’t want to pre-invite and make it seem like a bigger deal than it was so we mostly had just passed around the idea that we’d have a little something by word of mouth before I put up all the details. On our rsvp cards with the invite though I did include a space for people to indicate when they would be arriving into town just so we’d have a rough idea of space we needed (this super backfired though bc it seemed like everyone who was “traveling after work Friday” ended up heading out early haha, so we expected a bit of a stagger/flow as people arrived but like EVERYONE was there from the very beginning haha.

Here’s what I put on the website:
For those coming in on Friday, join us for drinks and snacks after your travels at the lovely Bella's (the finest restaurant with a scenic view of the ...hotel parking lot)

    8-10:30pm.

Super informal, we will have some space and tables by the back bar where people can come and go as they please. We will be ordering grilled pizzas and apps to share. Looking forward to getting to catch up with some of you all before the big day!”

Hey Haley! This is such a great idea! It will be lovely to catch up with some of your guests before your wedding day!

As the pp's have already mentioned, you can write something super casual if it's an informal event that your guests don't necessarily have to attend. Just make sure to mention that they shouldn't rush to try and be present for your start time, any time during the evening is perfect. You can also reiterate that people should only come if they are in town and if it doesn't put any extra pressure on them to arrive earlier through word of mouth.

Hey April Smiley smile Did you decide how to word this on wedding enclosure? Have you had any confusion from guests? Will there be many attending?
