Welcome bags

Ann, on August 5, 2019 at 11:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
I have maybe a dozen couples coming from out of town. If I do welcome bags for them at the hotel, do I do them for all of the other guests that live in town? I was thinking something basic like water, Advil, maps and a few snacks?

Typically, welcome bags are distributed at hotel check in. Only the guests staying at the hotel would get them, regardless of if they are out of state or not.

    Hi there Ann!

    This is a cute idea!

If you plan on having them handed out during hotel check-in, it would be difficult for the hotel staff to know who is an in-town and out-of-town guest. It may be easier for them to be given to everyone staying at the hotel!

Do you know if many of your guests who live in town are staying at the hotel?

Welcome bags should be for anyone who is staying at the hotel, whether from in state or not. The hotel wouldnt have any way to know the difference.

I'm doing welcome bags for everyone staying at the hotel. Theyll give me a list periodically so I know how many rooms are booked and theyll distribute at check in. We are going to have 2 mini water bottles, mini bah of chocolate covered pretzels, 2 granola bars and a couple little shooters of fireball or something. Well also have a little card in there with ceremony time, info for breakfast the next day, etc.

I should have worded my question more carefully - right now it looks like only out of town guests have booked a hotel. I made an assumption that since 12 OOT couples have told me they booked a room and there are 12 rooms booked from our block, so far just OOT friends and family were staying at the hotel. But I will be providing a bag to anyone at the hotel, even if they are from in town.

Your gift bags sound great! I might do the same thing!

We only did them for guests at our main hotel block! We included two water bottles, a two pack of advil, a bag of hershey kisses with stickers on the bottom that said "kisses from the mr and mrs", and a "his favorite" snack my mom made and a "her favorite" snack from a local town! I also printed personalized welcome pamphlets and door signs from Zazzle.

Okay that makes sense! Try to personalize it a bit with snacks you both really like!

We are making them for our out of town guests. I’m going overboard with this and I know it....but I’m doing separate types of bags for guests, family and wedding party members.

We will include bottles of water, hangover effervescent (blowfish), snacks from small businesses, pamphlet with weekend activities and timelines as well as coupons for local businesses and some type of alcohol. We are including kids as guests so those with kids will get small toys/books and kid friendly snacks as well.

I love this so much, these are adorable. but we’re flying in from out of state. I just don’t know how I could pull this off realistically!

Thank you! That makes sense. I forgot to order a guest book so I had to send it via Amazon to our hotel, so that would always be an option if you wanted? We got the bags, mini bags the kisses are in & stickers for the bottom of the kisses, the meat sticks, and the advil packets from Amazon!
