Hi All,

I want to do a welcome bag for our wedding guests staying at the Inn. Just 2 bottles of water maybe some crackers and peanut M & M's with a note from us. As a wedding guest and in your opinion, do you appreciate something like that? My wedding coordinator was trying to talk me out of those, but I think it was because they are a pain for front desk/hotel workers to hand out. "She said no one wants bottles of water and a map of the town," which when I get anywhere a bottle of water is the first thing I look for. After driving 3 hours or flying and driving 2 hours as most all of our guests will, wouldn't it be nice to have a little something to wet your whistle and fuel your tank while getting settled? Any other suggestions of what to put in the bags? That's not considered "junk?"

Thanks ahead of time!

Megan, I too used to work at a Front Desk and while I agree that they're a pain, I do not agree that water is lame. Who wouldn't rather have free water given to them than having to pay $2.50 out of a vending machine?? .

We never charged to hand them out and we were a world class resort, but to have bellmen deliver them was $4 each. Each property is different so it's best to ask whichever one you're thinking of using these questions.

I like welcome bags as long as they are practial items. I wouldn't go crazy with them, but I do appreciate the following:

    - Water Bottle (1 per person)

    - Bag of Chips/Pretzels

    - Some kind of sweets

    - Mints

    - Map with event Information*

    - Any transportation arangements

    - Asprin tablets

Anything beyond that seems a bit much to me, but I'm more of a budget bride.

*I would make sure to only include the events that everyone is invited to. I would also highlight some other cool things people can do in the area.

I hear you, I'd rather give practical things too! Just thinking of when I check into a hotel. I'm not a fan or checking in and then hunting for food, water, and info. especially after the length most of these people with travel to get there. Also, I think the type of snack depends on your wedding guest list. I know mine would rather have chips, candy, or something basic rather than some foo foo thing I like to eat.
