Weight loss after you ordered your dress?

Maria, on April 17, 2019 at 1:56 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 8
Hey everyone, I want to know how much weight you lost after you ordered your dress. I'm losing 30 pounds. I want to know after they took it in if it changed the way your dress looked.

My dress will not be in for another 3 weeks or so, but I ordered it in January. So far I've lost about 10ish pounds and I have 10 months until my wedding. Where did you get your dress from? I got mine from David's Bridal! I was told by the sales rep that if I lost a lot of weight and my current size was too much to take in, then they would exchange it for a smaller size. Usually they can take up to 2 sizes in no problem.

I lost 20 and they just had me exchange it for the same dress but just a smaller size. But I had to have that taken in slightly but I think I like my dress more since its smaller.

I had lost 30 lbs when I found my dress In January. I thought I was still losing, Atleast that was my plan. I ordered it at my measurements at the time. Dress came in mid February, I was at the same weight, no alterations needed at all. Bustle is done and I'm up 7 lbs since then, so back to counting calories for 7 weeks before final fitting!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Maria!

Seamstresses are typically super experienced with taking in wedding dresses and making sure they don't ruin the look of the dress. Make sure you choose a reputable seamstress who has lots of experience with wedding dresses.

Have you started the alternation process yet?

My wedding will be in in May. I bought my dress from Lotus Bridal and they have a seamstress at their store, so that's who I will be using.

I've lost about 90lbs since I bought my dress so you may have a different experience only wanting to lose 30, but my dress looks completely different on me after losing weight. Even alterations wont help. Granted I purchased my dress last July in a MUCH smaller size than I was at that time. I ordered a 12. I think when I ordered it I wore a 22 I'm now down to a 10. While the dress fits it looks completely different on my body. It's a beautiful dress on the hanger, but on me does nothing for my shape. I actually bit the bullet and bought a new dress last month, now I just hope it comes in time.
