Wedding Website: who to use if I'm buying a domain?

HowCo Industries, on November 5, 2017 at 9:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I'm looking to buy a domain, to make it easier for guests. I can then have that redirect to a readymade site through The Knot or whatever. Anyone done this? Any advice?

I think WW and theknot give you the option to purchase a domain through their websites. That may be easiest

Honestly, I would just use the knot or WW; don't make this harder than you need to because less people than you think will go to it. I'm sorry but this really does fall under the "no one is as excited as you are" territory.

If you'd have fun making it, do it, but keep it simple for yourself.

The knot actually gives you a choice to pick your website address.

We bought a domain from GoDaddy with the intention of building our website from scratch, but ended up too busy to work on it, that we created one with the Knot and forwarded our domain to our Knot website. It was pretty easy.

However, the Knot gives you the option to upgrade your website address to a custom domain. My understanding is that it eliminates the forwarding aspect. With forwarding, you type in your custom address, and while it pulls up your Knot website instantaneously, the URL shown is now your cookie cutter Knot domain. If you purchase through the Knot, your URL will show your custom web address at all times.

If we had known we were just going to end up using the Knot for our website, we would have simplified things by purchasing the custom domain through the Knot.

I see bloggers who continue use their wedding website address and since we're always talking about blogging it seems to make sense.

I purchased mine through the knot. In terms of ease it is great. It does have design restrictions which bother me a bit in terms of styling of the site itself which cannot be changed however, overall gets the job done and still looks nice while having my specific URL.

Hi Katherine! You can do this through WeddingWire!

You can personalize your WeddingWire URL for free, or you can purchase a custom domain and forward your WeddingWire website to that domain. Check out these links for more information:

I agree with getting a domain name. the one i want to use i just searched for and can purchase at godaddy.com for $1. in the interest of consistency, i'd like to use the same phrase for the url, hashtag and email. i think if it's easy/obvious/consistant then its easier for everyone to remember, find and use.
