Wedding Wands...??

JPB808, on February 10, 2016 at 3:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

So I'm trying to decided whether to use wedding wands or not.

Has anyone used them, and if so...did you use them only for your ceremony?

I'm wondering if it would be weird to use them for both Ceremony (in replacement of wedding bubbles) and Reception (in replacement of the wedding bells)?

Any suggestions? Or tips? Really appreciated (:

These are what wedding wands are (just in case some don't know)

I didn't use them, nor have I ever seen them. My first inclination is to think that they may get overlooked the day of after you have put in the effort to make and/or purchase them

I would have no clue what to do with that if I saw it on my ceremony chair or at my place setting

If you do use them, I wouldn't use them for both ceremony and reception. I wouldn't trust my guests to remember them from one place to the next. These would be cute for an alternative to the sparkler picture that everyone is doing!

I've seen them at the end of the ceremony, but I think I would skip them honestly. No one really seems to get it and it's another money suck

My cousin had them at the end of her ceremony and i think it was kind of a waste. I would skip it... no one really care about them and they got left everywhere or stuck holding them.

    Thanks everyone for your feedback!!

@Courtney- I keep seeing sparkler pictures on pinterest and think that's so cute! However our vendor doesn't allow open flames at the reception (ceremony and reception are at the same venue) so I highly doubt they'd accept sparklers, not to mention our daughter is freaked out by fireworks so it wouldn't work for us (sooo cute tho lol).

@Celia Milton- I can see where it would be a money suck...I tried to do research, prices can be awesome for the supplies but its the shipping that kills me (I live on Maui so prices are high which doesn't make sense because USPS has flat rate boxes, I think companies try and make money that way).

So....just going to throw the whole wand thing out lol

@JPB808 - our venue doesn't allow open flames either, but they DO allow sparklers for things like sparkler exits... it doesn't hurt to ask!! (also - they don't make noise like fireworks, so maybe your daughter would be ok??)

We have a bunch of glow sticks,. I don't know why. But FH and my mother wanted them-but luckily I got a great deal right after Halloween last year at the Halloween store. Who even knows where they are right now though.

@Britt- If only it were that easy with my daughter lol. She literally freaked out with the one that shoots into the sky (not sure what those are called), and especially freaked with those other handheld ones Morning glorys I think they're called. She was a complete Opihi (sea urchin that latches onto rocks) onto me on New Years and wouldn't let go. lol

My "flower girl" will go down the aisle waving one of these around. I made it myself.

I think they seem like fun but I'm not entirely sure how they are supposed to be incorporated.

We'll have a handful of little kids, and so I'm thinking we might just get enough for them, and then instead of specific flower girls just have all of the kids that want dance/run/skip/whatever down the aisle waving some ribbons around for a little excitement.

I went to wedding where these were used for dancing. The bride had to hand them out but they got used. We did glow sticks and glow stick glasses and they were a huge hit. So many people had them on and we used them for the exit too.

That's a great idea!!!! Do you mind if I use that idea! My venue is very strict with what my guests use, no bubbles, no rice etc
