Wedding videographers weren’t filming as the bride entered the ceremony

Emma, on August 9, 2019 at 8:08 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
Hi everyone, I recently got married in June and last week my husband and I received our 1st draft of our wedding video. The video was good, but during it there is this weird part where it builds up to the bride entering the wedding ceremony, showing the parents, wedding party etc. walking down the aisle and then I (the bride) just sorta appear about half way down. The venue we got married at was a beautiful old Victorian house that had these huge beautiful double doors that opened up into the garden where the ceremony took place. While everyone else entered the ceremony though the side of the house, I was behind the door with my mom waiting to enter. The venue even had two staff members that stood behind the door and opened it up simultaneously. So when we sent off our first round of edits to the videographer we asked them to please include the shot of me entering the wedding as everyone has talked about how beautiful it was. He wrote back and addressed the other edits and told us that a few were not possible for various reasons but still said nothing about this shot. He then goes ahead and sends the 2nd draft of the video but still no fix for the awkward part of the video, so we wrote back and again asked for this part again. Finally he writes back and quickly tells us that unfortunately both videographers basically weren’t filming as I entered into my own wedding ceremony. He sent over the entirety of the footage that they got and after watching it seems like they were getting their cameras ready and then the music starts and they are still fiddling with the cameras and then suddenly they both had an “oh crap” moment and hastily try and get their cameras up. I’m a bit dumbfounded and completely heartbroken. At this point nothing can bring that shot back and the videographers are very apologetic but, we payed almost $3,000 for these two men and I feel like they didn’t do what they were hired to do. What would you do in this situation?

How on earth did 2 professional photographer/videographers miss such an important moment?! Honestly I'd see if they will refund you some money. As you said you paid $3000 for two of them. One should have gotten that moment. I mean, the brides entrance is one of THE moments in a wedding. If they missed one of the bridal party that's no big deal but to not be ready for the bride's entrance? Unprofessional!

I would be livid! I don't know how contracts works with videographers, but I'd be asking for at least a partial refund. I always give businesses the opportunity to fix a mistake before writing negative reviews.

I agree with previous posts and would be asking for some type of a refund. That is a major moment that we as brides want to have on footage to look back at for years to come and paying that much money and having two videographers miss it is uncalled for. I hope you get something back for their mistake. I would definitely acknowledge this in the review if you are not compensated for their unprofessionalism.

That's horrible. That's one of the most pivotal moments. Did anyone else in your guests capture that moment clear enough so that it could be added into the video?

I would be super upset, too! You paid them too much to not film such an important moment. Unfortunately, there's not a way to redo your wedding, but is there any type of compensation you can ask for? Like perhaps some of your money back?
