What does your contract say?

This is something I would have specified before signing a contract. Our contract has a turnaround time of 5 months, so I don't think that sounds awful.

In my contract it says she can take up to 90 days of samples of the final video. So 5 months doesn’t seem crazy to me. Gives you something to look forward too. And think about it this way, that person is probably doing 4-6 or so weddings a month. It’s 5,8 or more hours of footage to go through and edit. I would rather my videoography take as much time as she needs and do her best work. It will be a nice Christmas gift for the two of you!

I told him not to upset the videographer or make him race to complete the video since I want it to be nice.

They are probably super used to that! I don’t think it would upset him. I feel like that’s a normal thing to get asked. Don’t sweat it!

I certainly don't expect my videographer to work that quickly. In fact, I would be concerned if he could have it to me that quickly. Ours does 1 wedding a week at least so I did expect a delay, but not 5 months.

That seems like a long time to me. Every videographer we spoke with had a turn around time of anywhere from 6-10 weeks. The one we selected will give us a "teaser" film/clip within days and full footage within 8 weeks.

Our video takes a max of 6 months, but they said probably 4-5. Did your contract not specify?
