wedding venue in NJ holding more than 400 guests

Private User, on January 11, 2012 at 2:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I got engaged in september and am getting married next may (2013). I know its early but I want to get ahead of the game since i have the time.

I am starting with venue but its tough because I am looking for a wedding venue in new jersey that holds more than 400 guests in the banquet hall. I would love for there to be an outdoor space for the ceremony that holds closer to 350 people. It is very important that they allow outside catering. ANY help will be very appreciated!!

Krishna I see your in Warren are you looking for a place near you or are you willing to travel. Rutgers University would have been perfect for their garden usage but they only hold 200 people.

Krishna, I wish you'd asked just a month ago - the Dulhan Expo had a HUGE expo first week of December. (Am I right in assuming you're having a South Asian wedding?) They have several through out the year, for free. Look on their website for some venues - vendor lists:

Have you tried looking on theknot.com you can actually break it down by state, number of guests, outdoor space, outside caters allowed..I just did it and these are the ones that showed up on the list

Wow I am thrilled by so many responses already! You guys are great =)

I am planning on checking out the next dulhan expo and my search did start at theknot.com (it's a great site). I found many places and have a good start so far but I was hoping to find a place that is outside the radar of these websites, possibly find an unturned rock since there are so many brides on this forum! Still looking....

Krishna - it might help if you talk to the many mandap/decor people OR caterers there. They could give you a nice idea of places that hold that many people, and at the same time you can try to gauge how much they charge.

Or you could start going to marriott/hilton/etc websites and doing searches.

    Go here:

    http://www.marriott.com/meetings/hotel-weddings/travel.mi

-click on select a hotel for your wedding

-it'll give you a nice list of marriotts in your area that will hold that many people.

-when calling make sure to ask how much capacity there is for a seated reception. I learned that the charts/sizes listed on the hotel sites that say "reception" usually means standing reception.

    Good luck!
