Wedding Thank You cards & Christmas Cards?

Irchykk, on December 12, 2012 at 1:47 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Been a while since I been here.

Our wedding was 8/31 & I still have not sent out Thank You cards. but its on my todo list by the end of the weekend. A lot of things have happened since the wedding, as soon as we got back from honeymoon, 2 days later I had a really bad car accident, so been dealing with insurance stuff, trying to get a new car, million doctor visits, etc. than Hurricane Sandy decided to visit us. & then planning 2 charity Holiday parties for the 1st time at work.. so just a lot of stuff going on. now I need to get these out ASAP.

So not to everyone, but to most of the people that were at the wedding I want to send Thank You cards (to everyone) but to some I also want to send Xmas cards... Can I combine them? Can I just do my Wedding Thank you card with Xmas background? & Thank them for coming to the wedding/gifts & also to wish them to have a merry Christmas?

Thoughts/Advice please

Below is 1 of the pics for main picture for Thank You card. or maybe all

And I do understand that some people might find it a little offensive receiving Xmas & Thank you card on the same card.. or maybe not ... I am not sure, that is why I am coming to you ladies ... as for me, if someone send me 1 card for xmas & wedding TY I would be completely OK with it.. I feel like its a waste of time, money, postage, paper, etc... but thats just my opinion, which is probably very different from most...

While I could see combining them, because I'm always a fan of saving time like that, I'd say you're right in thinking that some people could be offended. I'd say get some nice holiday cards and some pretty letterhead, write the thank-you notes on that, fold and tuck inside the card. That way they aren't one and the same, but sent together. And who doesn't understand trying to save on postage these days!

Its really not money issue either..

I think that I'd do them separately. You don't have to write much on Christmas cards (generally they have a pre-printed message and you can just sign "Love, Irchykk and Husband") so they don't take very long to do.

The only good way around it would be to write the normal thank you message ("Thanks for X. We've been using it for Y. So glad to see you doing Z out on the dance floor") and then write another few sentences specifically about the holidays. If you're writing long messages, it won't look like you were trying to kill two birds with one stone.

Personally, it takes me so long to write out a single thank you card that I couldn't imagine doubling it by writing a Christmas message. But you might be better than me. Smiley smile

I think it would be fine to get pre-printed x mas cards with a picture from the wedding, write your thank you separately, and put them in the same envelope to save on postage Smiley smile

I think it would be ok, especially if people understand everything you have been through.

I don't think it would be a good idea. some might find it tacky if you do that. I was going to send Save the Dates out with my cards but was told it would be tacky. And I can understand that. I would do your thank you to your guest and then send out a separate card for x-mas But if you do go this way, then I would just explain to those who might not know what has been going on in a short little note.

I think I will just order both right now (Thank You cards & Xmas cards), both personalized.. and will get pre-stamped envelopes for both. I also already have the list saved on my computer from the wedding invites with the addresses to everyone we sending, so will get those labels printed and just sent everyone 2 cards ...

I also want to print a picture for everyone from their table (well the tables that we have pictures off since no one sat at their table for more then 2 min & photographer couldnt get everyone in the picture) ...

Thanks ladies for the advice ..
