Wedding tent alternatives?

What type of wedding were you going for? Beach, garden, etc.?

What about not having the tent at all for the ceremony and then have the reception indoors? I'm not sure there are many places that would have a huge awnings....

It's at a Union Hall so we were going to have the ceremony in the back grassy area. We don't HAVE to have it covered but I just wanted something so that I wouldn't be checking the weather constantly. If it rains we wouldn't be able to go inside due to havin to use the entire indoor space for the reception. It will also be in the end of June.

I have seen sails being used as an outdoor cover for areas but these always seem to be used for a more permanent structure as they need to be anchored to a post or something solid and steady.

Have you talked to the venue wedding coordinator about your worry? They may have a method of covering the outdoor area that they have used previously.

Our venue is not usually used as a wedding venue so they're not the best with the planning. They are helping me to see if their pavilion will be big enough to fit all the chairs I need.
