Wedding shower/pre-wedding reception?

Kaylee, on August 20, 2020 at 4:21 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4
Hey everyone!

Me and my fiancé decided we are going to elope to Colorado so we can self solmenize our marriage, however, we really want to do a party before we leave that is almost like a pre-wedding reception/wedding shower thing to do all of the things we want from a reception and a bridal shower together, such as cake cutting, brunch foods, him/her shoe game, etc. Something our friends and family can come to. We don’t want to do it after getting married though cause our lives get busy afterwards.

What are your thoughts?

I think all of that would feel so much more celebratory and less confusing for your guests after your elopement.

If you really feel like you have no time for a party after you get married, have something before but don't call it either a pre-reception (that is not a thing) or a shower (shower guests should be invited to the event the shower is related to). Just throw a nice party and invite your friends and family and don't try to attach it to your elopement in a way that doesn't make sense.

I also like the post-elopement party idea! You can host the same style event (cake cutting, brunch foods, him/her shoe game) and celebrate your newlywed status! Smiley heart
