Wedding shower or no??

So, I have been getting a lot of people asking about when I'm going to post my wedding registry and asking when I was going to have a wedding shower. I was going to plan the wedding shower myself but everyone (including my bridesmaids and family) tell me that I can't throw myself a wedding shower but then there's no one else saying they are willing to throw one for us. I brought it up to my bridal party and they all already told they weren't going to. Did anyone NOT have a wedding shower? If i'm not having one then do I even need to have a registry at all?

    I guess your guests could still purchase items off of your registry and give it as a gift at the wedding? I find it odd that your bridesmaids wouldn’t be willing to throw you a shower...are you sure they aren’t joking?

    One bridesmaid said she wanted to be in charge of the bachelorette party so someone else needs to do the shower, my MOH is my 15 year old sister who i've come to realize just wants me to tell her when to show up and my other bm lives out of state and has been very hard to get ahold of.

    You definitely shouldn't throw your own shower as that looks like you are just asking for gifts. You can call still register for gifts for the wedding though.

    Honestly, most of our family lives out of the city or even out of state, so we're skipping showers. We don't really need gifts. People will probably still send us things from our registry, which is more than fine. A few have already sent things from our Amazon registry.
